Hi all,
It seems that the AGM MP40 has gone up in price at most retailers and is now about £130 up from £99. ANyone know where to get them cheaper? And also the mags? £15 for a 50 round mag sounds a bit steep.
Cheers!
Josh
Warren (Shoot and Scoot) is selling mags for £10 and the MP40 for £120
or you could try http://www.actionhobbys.co.uk/searchres ... hterm=mp40

Thanks for the link!
I notice they are selling 2 different versions of the AGM MP40 - bakelite and black? I didnt know there was a bakelite version is this new? And does anyone know if there are any other differences - reliabilty etc?
Cheers,
Josh
They are the same gun - 'bakelite' version has painted side panels looking like early versions, black version is unpainted black plastic of later vintage.

Just different finishes on the plastic parts. From personal experience, the bakelite finish is just painted on the plastic and gets scratched up/off quite easily, but i like the battered effect it gives! ![]()
I was very surprised when I first saw the scratched 'bakelite'. I had assumed it was moulded not painted - the colour should go all the way through!

dieselmonkey do you have a pic of a well used bakelite one? If it is going to be a noticably bad paint job after a skirmish or 2 I might want to go for the black ![]()
Cheers,
Josh
PM waiting for you Josh ![]()

i'll try and sort you a pic out when i get home. i'm probably going to 'age' my mp40 anyway, just haven't got round to it yet.
pics as requested:
black versus bakelite:

Close up of the bakelite finish:

basically there's some kind of varnish as a topcoat, which is gradually coming off as pinpoint dots, leaving weird coloured patches and exposing the paint underneath. Not a major issue as far as i'm concerned though.
Thanks for the pics dieselmonkey! I think I will probably go for the black and then maybe convert the plastic sections myself as I saw on the US WW2 forum.
Great looking weapons in any case! Have you had any reliability troubles?
Cheers,
Josh

None whatsoever, and it's been through hell! it got practically drowned last june, it survived that and it's been fine since, good range and R0F, i'd imagine it's running at about 300fps or so.
Only thing i will say is throw out the original battery, it's useless. Buy a decent replacement (from somewhere like here http://www.component-shop.co.uk/html/airsoft_etc_.html) and you won't regret it!
Thanks! What is the correct battery size from that site by the way?
Cheers,
Josh
Diesel is right about the battery - chuck it and the charger straight in the bin and get a decent replacement.
http://www.chinasoft.co.uk (a UK based co.) knock out MP40s at less than £100 delivered or you could try http://www.rsov.com - they are a little slow when busy but I've used them loads and never had a problem.

it's the second one down on the link i put up: 8.4V 1400mAh 2/3A NiMH Mini Battery Pack. (3x2 + 1)
i've got two, but because it fires lowcaps, i've never needed the second battery even on 2-day games. Nice as a spare though!
i'd recommend getting the charger at the bottom of the same page, if you haven't got a good one, and also the adaptor so you can use ordinary sized battery adaptors.
Thanks for the info guys!
Josh
