For this event I would like to try something a bit different.

With regards to the map the yellow line running up through the centre of the site is the German blockade line of Leningrad.

The line will have a number of CPs along it and the main task for the sides is to be in control of as many as possible by the end of the day. The Russians must control at least two that are adjacent to each other as to emphasize a gap has been created to allow supply trucks through.

The Russians will be split half and half over this line. Those on the far side will be the Leningrad city troops and those on the safe zone side will be the re-enforcement forces. The re-enforcements first mission is to deliver supplies through the line to the city HQ this will involve sneaking over the line dodging patrols etc. The city Russians will only start the event with a hand full of ammo they will need to check ruins around for further equipment until the supplies arrive. So extra ammo/bandages/medical supplies/grenades will be put in the buildings marked on the map.

For the Germans the first days missions will be the set up and patrol of the CPs was also thinking making the water towers an in game objective and have German units to rig the area for demolition should it fall into enemy hands.

Ideas still need fleshing out but hopefully you can see what the ideas are.

Any further thoughts you guys have would be awesome.

Think as of this moment in time we should proceed under the idea that Lardy will not be back so I hope that means that Martin will come over to the Russians and we will have to look at who will be joining in on the German command.-- attachment is not available --

With Lardy maybe not being around may be a bit of a pain getting the hire kit so have tried to offer alternatives on the uniform requirements. See what you think.

Hi,

I'm back now but have a few distractions (my wife is in hospital with a suspected nasty tropical disease). Hopefully things will be on a more even keel next week and I'll get focused again.

Cheers
Martin

Love the Close Action site. Looking at that game plan I'm stoked for this already. Looks absolutely immense.

Printing everything off and having a read through.

Couple of points brought up by various discussions etc. after the weekend.

1) Ammo, don't think because we are going to be paying a bit more for the site that we can afford to issue the ammo ourselves. Just have to really define the times player can reload.

2) For the city troops and militia. At the beginning I am thinking we will ask players to put all their ammo/reload equipment in crates that have to be brought over the line. Will then issue one lifes level of ammo, with other ammo and bandages etc. being available in the buildings. Be fun to if we do use militia and they go out and find all the supplies what they will feel like when command orders them to hand stuff over to the army troops :giggle:

3) Will be making updates to objective list the end of the week so if there are any suggestion please let me know and I will add and then everyone can see.

Ta :good:

The ammo idea is excellent. I also like the idea of having to search the derelict buildings for supplies; feels realistic and very desperate.

An additional scenario idea for the Leningrad defenders could be a reconnaissance mission to spot for naval gunfire from Kronstadt. The Baltic Fleet provided some useful muscle in the defence of the city, with the big guns of the battleships and cruisers penned up in the naval base used to target German strong points. Perhaps we pick a building for the site, designate it as a German 'command and control' facility, then send a unit forward who have to recce the objective before artillery plasters it. We could use our detonator to simulate the strike if we wanted to go full hog. The defenders can't afford a fire fight with such limited ammunition. They have to get in without bumping in to any German units, identify the target, then get out.

Something to consider if it fits in to the overall game plan. :good:

Nice, like the thinking but maybe we could flip it over. Just because the Russian to do list is reasonable at the moment so to bolster German objectives.

Maybe using your gun Tim. Could have set up of one at artillery point and the other run out by an observation unit. Grid reference etc. and then can work it like you guys did at clipper with one of the Russian guys on the end of radio throwing down charges where you call them. Bit a bit more involved objective than the scorched earth mission. Have all bit to be able to make telephone wire backpack unit already so that can go on my build list :D .

Thoughts?

Definitely do-able for the Germans. They fired something like 150'000 rounds in to the city alone and there's scope to name drop one of the railway guns that the German's had wheeled up; I think some of them were captured French pieces from the old Charlemagne, République and Liberté class pre-dreadnoughts.

For the German's you can also have wire maintenance; repairing holes cut in the wire by artillery or Soviet assault engineers.

The reels I have for the pack are these old welding ones. see below. got a couple of them so could put phone wire on one and barbed wire on another and then we can swap and change dependent on the objective. Got some of that fake barbed wire too so that can all be set up. going to see if I can get some cheap telephone cable from the wholesalers. Tim do you remember how much yours was?-- attachment is not available --

Nowt wrong with a five finger discount Tim. (to be honest if you hadn't snaffled it from work I would have been disappointed :giggle: )
Below is what I have in my head about the way to run the artillery. Hope drawing makes sense. suggestions welcome. :good:-- attachment is not available --

So are we ok with the storyline and game outline?
Right now we have to discuss costs. What are peoples ideas of stuff we need that will involve money. Site rental is £20 per person so we are looking at maybe charging £25 as this is max you can really charge for a single day.
The only thing I can see that will need to be purchased is some of the in game pyro effect.
Think we need to get stuff up now will be announcing it on the Facebook page first as we may have the European guys travelling so want them to be able to make their plans.

Right been a week since the above post and no response from anyone!

Its another week that's been lost and as you are all aware although October is reasonably far it will sneak up quite quickly.

If its the fact that you don't have the available time, enthusiasm, or whatever then please let know.

I understand there can be other factors that are determining everyone availability etc. but just not to have any response at all is a bit disheartening.
