Considering that the Limeys are going to do what they always do - get uptight about boots, blanco and badges, the Yanks are going to stay aloof from that and go with one simple rule. If it works, use it - so the list below is just a suggestion - not an order!

Headwear:

Helmets are recommended, purely due to the nature of the site, as there's a hell of a lot of stuff in there to bang your head on. If helmets aren't your thing, there is always the old Jeep cap. Helmet or not - it's your head, so it's your choice!

Clothing:

Anything goes - from Wools to M43's and everything in between. The only thing to say is that the site is damp, so wool (which retains warmth even when damp) does have the slight edge over cotton.

Insignia:

CIC, in the main, tended to avoid too much in the way of insignia. Officers would normally wear their rank insignia, but enlisted men tended to use officers "US" collar insignia. I for one, will only be going for the Officers bars - why? pure laziness

Boots:

Corcorans, roughouts, double-buckles. As long as they're comfy they'll do the job. One benefit of the yank boots is that the rubber soles makes 'em good for creeping around silently - something you cant say about brit or german hobnailed boots!

Webbing:

Keep it light. The less you carry, the less there is to get in the way. Don't forget the ammo bags if you want to carry a vast quantity of pyro. If you want to pack some spare bits and pieces and leave them in the HQ, then Musette bags and the like are the way to go.

Weapons:

The site has a strict 330FPS limit, so please be aware of it. Thompsons, as ever, will rule the roost for the Yanks but the odd Garand or BAR would be useful for dominating the longer tunnels. Pistols are worth carrying at UCAP (particularly if you're using an M1 or a BAR as a primary weapon) so if you have a 1911, pack it.

Torches:

You're going to need one. Luckily, US right-angle torches are cheap, available, and effective (far more effective than the German flashlights, that's for sure!)

None of the above is considered to be an Order!

Any suggestions my fellow CIC'ers?

When we were a Kingdom it was run by a King
When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........

So what are the rest of the US guys wearing? I was thinking of M43's as I have not worn them to a game yet.

M43s might be a better call than the M41s because of them being darker in colour, 1 thing I did notice at Wotan was that my tan M41 seemed to glow in the dark a bit! lol

I'll probably be running just M43s, Helmet, pistol belt and ammo bag

I shall be wearing the following:

M1 Helmet, plain green, no net, no insignia.
My enlisted Wool shirt with the U.S. Collar insignia (I assume it goes on both sides?) - no other insignia, no tie.
M43 re-enforced paratrooper bottoms (for durability) with trouser belt (Turned up at the bottoms)
Paratrooper cross-drawer holster underneath my arm almost.
M1936 pistol belt with First aid pouch, water canteen and pistol pouches. (Suspenders to keep it up if belt is too heavy)
Roughout boots with Gaitors (underneath the Paratrooper trousers (USMC stylie)
Officers map case (fits bbs, gas can and spare mags in, plus also good for storing captured documents etc. (Pencil loops are also great for storing blank rounds for the 2 BFGs)
Right angle torch hanging off my belt.
M3 fighting knife for silent takedown.

Weapons - 2no. Colt .45s, 1 main, 1 backup, 8no. 23 round mags for pistols

Would bring the gas shotgun too, however its doing silly FPS, and the nature of the site would lead on to harsh injuries in the absence of face masks/armour

Sounds awesome Webby, great attention to detail!

I'm going to make the effort to use pistols - I have largely given up on them as a useful tool in battle but watching you hold off Jerry single handed at Op Lightning with just a pistol has inspired me!

Hmmm, pretty sure you aren't allowed to use BFGs in the tunnels.

9mm BFGs are OK to use in the tunnels - thing is you can't go and retrieve them 'cos its a bit :ghey: when game is on. So you have to rely on others to pick them up - in the dark - so I'd say they are probably more trouble than they are worth. Your call though, I might take mine

I used mine for posting Tiny a pressie through a gap at Wotan, I managed to retrieve it, but didn't load it up again. Perhaps its worth settling for MK5s.

I find shooting a pistol much more exciting and challenging that laying down carpets of bbs, but then again each role has it's purpose I suppose.

I'm pretty sure I used them last time.

You just have to be sure they don't go down any of the holes and sort out picking them up etc...

Yep, Yith got me a good 'un with a BFG last time. It rolled right up to me and hit my boot. I didn't bother to run!

Hopefully your face won't be entirely smooth. Not much use for a torch if it is.....
