there will be filming, and im hoping to have a dedicated cameraman in period gear filming the whole thing.

people are welcome to film if they like, but try and remain discrete ( ie , dont stand in the middle of a firefight, try and stay to the sides or behind the action, thanks )

Yes I would like video here and there, maybe we can talk it over on Sat night.
If you have night vision video I am bringing a few IR lamps to run off 12v batts I have.
Also have an in tank video unit.

So great and I would like a copy of the raw footage if that is ok, on a CD after the event I will give you my address to post it to :good:

a note to add to my post ,

if you film, do it "in action" so to speak, you can still die, so stay low like a real combat cameraman would, low , in cover and out of sight :good:

dont ruin players experience, keep it "out of the way" :good:

Great news we may have some fun here.
If about on Sat night we can do some testing, we could do with getting there early as pos I think as we have a lot to prepare :D

Here are some of the gadgets I have to take, mostly cheap stuff.
The IR laps are about £7 on ebay.
The PVR torch about £30.
Second hand IR camcorder £40
Tank Cam £40
I had to buy the throat mic for use in the tank due to the engine noise.

So will take string tape nails etc
I only have the 2 PIR lamps so not sure the best way to use them, I could drill the centre mount hole bigger and find a screw to fit it in the tripod mount hole under a camcorder.
The battery on them is lead acid jell 12V and can fit in a backpack or large pocket maybe, they have about 5-7ft flex on them and should run for many hours all day I would think.

As Porta says duck and dive you are under fire.
The PVR torch can go on a rifle, as we are mostly in dark the odd bit of gadget will not show up like in a day time game.

I have also taken the time to wire up the lamps on the tank after 3 years, I have used SMA LED lamps in the spot lamp case so they should be ok to leave on a long time at about 0.22 amp.

You absolutely have to have IR lamps in order to film anything at Kinver. It's DARK.

It was camcorder with an IR lamp built into it. If you can get a battery powered IR lamp for £7 then maybe fashion some sort of bracket that will attach the lamp to the tripod screw mount on the bottom of the camera. All video cameras see IR light - you can test them by pointing a TV remote at the lens

Yes I am thinking of finding a screw to mount the IR lamps I have under my camcorders, have not looked to see what the thread is yet though probably something odd I suppose. :?

Luckily, almost certainly a standard screw!

The historic standard threading for the bolt that attaches the camera to the tripod is 1/4"-20tpi (threads per inch) British Standard Whitworth (Whitworth or BSW) for smaller cameras or 3/8"-16tpi BSW for larger cameras and pan/tilt heads. Bolts using 1/4"-20 UNC and 3/8"-16 UNC screw threads are generally close enough to work when BSW bolts are unavailable. Note: A BSW bolt in a UNC nut has play, but a UNC bolt in a BSW nut will jam.

Big boys kit uses the larger screw )or both) - all low end/domestic/light/amateur kit uses the smaller screw. A purpose made tripod screw will have no problems - if you use something else watch the screw length else you might drive it into the camera body when trying to tighten it!

I should get it sorted out in time.

I am at the Woodvale Rally all this weekend for anyone that wants to pop down and see Alex an I.
I have just taken the tank down there and it is looking good.
There are 117 military vehicles booked for this year, I followed a US tank there all the way from Aintree.

Loads more than last year it gets better every year now.

Last year with Alex on the M24 Chaffee tank :good:
