With the risk of sounding like a lazy fucker who can't be bothered to go through all the threads to find out what the hell the Dutch Resistance forces are going to be doing, who they will be answerable to and how it's all going to work.
What are the Dutch Resistance forces are going to be doing, who they will be answerable to and how it's all going to work?
Or just point me to a place where all this is discussed succinctly.

Erm long and short of it is:
They were orignally put in to swell UK rnaks as we thught nobody would go for UK paras...
They answer to themsleves as a dirty communist collective.... but you are their point of contact wiht the uk forces as the OSS agent. and technically you can give them orders (how well they wil obey i dont know).. UK forces however have been told to follow any reasonable orders you give them as you're an allied officer.
The main idea is that they hide their wepons and have an orange armband, without a band they cannot be targetted and shooting them kills both yourslef and them. If they wear an armabnd or carry 'military equipment' be it a gun , ammo or webbing then they cna be shot at fair game.
The DRW have the objjective to kick the germans out of arnhme but one or two may have their own perosnal agenda/scores to settle.
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
Oh Christ. How FUBAR could that go??
Still I guess it could add a little authenticity and general chaos which is nice.
My only concern is that I have no Brit equipment. My thoughts are that I could be posing as an undercover Brit agent within the resistance so I could just wear a jacket and trousers.
Will have a look through stuff on the scenarios over the next week.
Either that or you've parachuted in overtly with the main force as a US officer.
No10 Dutch inter allied commando did this on the eve of the iarborne invasion so its not that far fetched.

If you desperately want Brit Equipment Steve, I'm sure I can supply some pretty good stuff...
But we imagined you as a US agent, not a brit one!
Hi Steve
DRWs can move around site unarmed pretty much at will , although going in things like the German HQ may be prohibated. In this role they can be used for recon . Germans can stop and search them , but not shoot them ( in shooting an unramed civvy both sides are killed inc the shooter )
When armed and carrying an orange armband they can fight / be killed like anyone else .
There are some subplots involving Nazi Gold and paintings of "the Maddonna with Big Boobies". Setting them off to recover them and hide them is good . We hope both will be in play all day , with people finding, stealing and hiding them throughout, although no one outside us knows this yet .
As an added twist we suggested that they may decide they are collaborators and act for the Germans , although then run the risk of being shot by both sides They would have to convince the Germans they are on their side, and then do as asked. Nothing to stop them acting as double agents or giving the Germans or the Allies duff information
They will have a base, and their weapons must be stashed at the Allied Landing Zone when not in use .
They also have a seperate DRW only forum , I would suggest get them in there and start the ideas rolling, rather than them thinking they'll just turn up and fight in "period" civvies .
You are in charge mate , I'm sure you'll make a success of it !
Okey dokey.
That gives me a bit more of an idea of what I can do.
OK, US kit it is then!
So in essence I will act as a liaison between Allied and willing DRW people. Those prepared to defect to the German side will be marked as such if captured. I'm thinking of maybe bringing some hair clippers and a brand.

Having re-read 'it never snows' it appears that the entire dutch population were incredibly hostile to the german forces as soon as the landing were apparent...
Doesnt really seem in fitting to let the dutch choose thie r side, i thin it would be much better if a maximum of two were allowed to switch sides and even then i see it seriosuuly affecitng play balance, only take sone 'infiltatrotr ' to enter the UK |CP and hose the entire DIV HQ down.
To avoid this the UK will have to basicaly mistrust *every* DRW and effectivley cut their strengh by 1/3rd
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
Yeah... I think we should lose the switch sides thing...
Agreed! Never like the idea of turncoats in airsoft, especially with regens.
Don't be so gay ! There were plenty of Dutch who liked the Germans , and fought in the SS. I'm sure the relatives left behind had very divided loyalties. A lot of collaborators did so because they were frightened for the consequences for their families if they did not .
I'd leave it in , & not limit the numbers , and leave it to the players to decide- I suspect none will take it up , and if they do the Germans will distrust them as much .
Having had a few pints with Diggah last night he thought it was a great idea , and agreed the RPG element of it would make it worthwhile playing the DRWs .
If you suspect a Dutchmans loyalty insist he don the orange armband and fight intead of allowing him to wander around . TBH most players are not going to know much about the Dutch boys mission and objectives anyway . Hopefully the Germans will ignore them, and I suspect the Allies will to .
You ought to make it plain to them as well that if as a civvy they try to walk through a firefight expecting not to get shot this will be considered bad form , I don't want unarmed DRWs waltzing up next to Germans engaged in a fight just to spot their positions to the Brits . Also areas like the Hotel HQ will be verbotten to them unless they can B/S their way in on some "we are here to help and need to talk to the German commander" type stuff . Freedom to roam should be within a realistic historical context.
I thought we learnt last time that airsofters and RP/actively pretending didn't mix....at all.
If we do this, we'd have to make it crystal clear to the people signing up that what would be expected of them.
I suspect that, on the day, confusion would reign on all sides.
The rule of K.I.S.S. may be bent a tad too far here.

Fair enough they're your crew , I'll leave it to your discretion . If I was playing one I'd be a very sneaky bastard !
I would still like to emphasise the point about being in character regarding using their non target status unfairly . If they deliberately walk into german postions in the middle of a firefight it'll be a bollox , and I'll shoot em .
Accounts i'm currently reading emphasis that both sides tended to shoot up anything that moved in a fire fight, friend, foe, civvy,,
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
Bloody limeys!
Erm no. Sorry this is official. We're not doing that. I don't even want people to worry about the possibility of it happening.
There will be no double agents, thats final.
Rich I've deleted both mine and your post in the DRW forum to avoid confusion .
I wasn't aware we had all agreed it was a no no , but can't be assed to argue about it , as I reckon it could all become another field phone debate ie we'll agonise how players will go for it , and they'll probably just ignore all our good ideas and fight as civvies all the day . We can but live in hope !
Yeah we agreed... heh... anyway the germans have enough people fighting on their side
Yeah we agreed... heh... anyway the germans have enough people fighting on their side
I bloody hope so. The Brits win this one, and the German side aint gonna live it down for years
When we were a Kingdom it was run by a King
When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........
BTW.... just so you remember Guy and Dave, the Dutch Doctor has the medic ability same as ben... if you can coerce him into helping you then you may be able to use it...
Of course you have to identify him first! (hence checking papers)
Good thinking !
