Yep radios were used extensivley in wwii.

At platoon level.

The idea of every fourth guy having one os a bit much.

We wouldnt let every fourth guy have a scoped sniper rifle would we?

I'd have said three per side would be ample.

! permanently at the sides HQ the others given to designated guys in the sectio to carry the radio. Be better for a player to be radio man than overwork NCOs, add more to the game as well if NCos have to rely on theior signaller to get the situation.

If its what we want to do then fine ill go along with it but pocket radios at that ratio feels dead wrong to me.

Okey dokey.

I take it that it's a given that all five commanders will have radios on the same frequency as marshalls for gaming purposes.

For authenticity the Brits won't have radios available to NCO's or below at all.

No idea why you would think every fourth German would have a radio - we may only have two NCO's in-game. We have a possible pool of seven NCO's who will at some point take on the role, chances are we would have up to a max of five active. If the NCO's choose to use a radio operator that's up to them.

Can't see a lot of point in having a fixed radio at a HQ, who would want a job manning that, this is airsoft?

I have asked NCO's if they have radios - I have just 'lost' a pair of PMR's lent out to team members at the last weekender and have yet to make their way back to me.

For autheticity i'd prefer the brits not to have radios at all.

Both sides had terrible trouble in the low lying dutch areas *especially* in towns getting radios to wprk and often used the local telephone network.

Of all the battles not to really need a lot of radios .. . this is the one. :)

I'll be keeping it to three on the allied side i reckon.

I completely agree that only a few radios should be used across the side.

Just keep in mind always that this is an airsoft game and not a fully authentic re-enactment event and most want a good day's play rather than total accuracy.

We need to weigh up the desire for authenticity against the need to create a good game for everyone.

Another thing radios will help with, at platoon level, is enabling players to regroup from regen. As regens are specific to airsoft and are in no way authentic, allowances need to be made to allow this very necessary function to work properly.

Therefore, what about a fixed radio at a regen point so that players rejoining the game and find out where their platoon are and rejoin?

Can do , although rounding up players and banging them together in makeshift Kampfgruppes is a key role of the german NCOs as were not going for fixed squads .

Cool.

Yes, fixed squads really didn't work on the BoB game.

Maybe a fixed radio at regen so the rejoining players can be 'briefed' on where they should redeploy to so they can get back into the gameplay asap?
