The issue of pyros has yet to be resolved.
Several of the Germans have shelled out for grenades themselves.
We are not using airstrikes or mortars in this game so we can be light on bangs but smoke will make a hell of a difference.
We talked about issuing NCO's with supplies for them to use/distribute as they see fit. And putting supplies in airdrops to be fought over.
If we go for 4 minute smokes and MK5/BB grenades how does that suit? Smokes can be used by marshals where needed so they will need some.
Left over from BotB I have:
6 ball grenades
5 small smokes
5 Mk5

I know we said we weren't going to use the mortars, but I thought we were going to go with a limited number of airstrikes, or something?
I don't honestly think that we've completely decided on that..... or how it would affect the marshalling situation.
Happy with the idea of some supplies being placed in airdrops...
Like the idea of getting a stash and then us doling it out ot the NCOs .
Suggest we avoid marshall deployed pyros if we think we can get away with it , and just let the players lob em at each other . For the big smokes we could keep them for one of us to deploy in a sensible and safe manner . I take it we won't be having yellow clad marshals ![]()
The usual 30/60 sec smokes are not worth bothering with given we are working in such a big area (the were OK in the Embassy though
) so if we stick to 4 min smokes then we will at least get a bit of cover/atmosphere. (Thinking good photos/video too
)
OK, no marshal deployed pyro (except perhaps to mark an airdrop?)
I'll ask Garreth if marshals can lose the hi-viz, can't think that will be a problem. One of the players the other day was asking if he can come along to help the marshalls as he is tempted by the WW2 thing - said yes no problem as non-combatant, come in Dutch-ish clothing (as per Gadge's earlier suggestion).
Let's have some idea of pyro quantities then - 40 smokes and 20 MK5's?
Could the airdrop supplies also include a bottle of BB's - the side that gets to the airdrop can pass the bottle among players in-game so they can reload imediately rather than returning to the CP. This way it's a real incentive to be the first to an airdrop. Of course, when they open up an airdrop container they may find it's full of uniforms....

BB's are a good idea too . These "airdrops" I take it are we using the old ammo box trick again . We could bung em out as set dressing and get marshals to fill them up once in a while, keep people guessing perhaps ?
BTW I am not dragging them around like I did at the bulge ! I'll bung some bricks in them to discourage others as well !
The marshals can deploy the ammo boxes - up to the finders whether they open them where they find them or remove to safe location.
I would suggest the marshals deploy them to different locations (under our direction as to where and when) rather than fixed positions.
Tie a white sheet to 'em to look like a parachute, will help with finding their location too.

All sounds good !
We have access to a long drop canister like tube. Actually modern, but looks right.
We also have access to a parachute.
I'd like plenty of grenades.
By the way, will DRW's be allowed any exciting ordnance or is it just guns for them?

A long drop canister sounds attractive but it just another bit of kit we have to get hold of, transport to site, deploy, look after and return - an ammo box will do the job surely? Ditto the parachute but at least the parachute is easy to transport!
Grenades for H/S then.
DRW's have to retreive grenades from Allied supply? Perhaps one Allied carries DRW's pyro supply - they have to locate him to be supplied? The DRW had better not get stopped by German patrol/sentry with a satchel of grenades!

I've a thought. See the DRW thread......

OK, so how about quantities then?
I'll sort order with Grogan on Saturday.
4 min Super Smoke -

What's our budget?

That depends on how much Chomley's charging us for the signage!
Can't we just say

I don't know?
Can we?
It really is down to you to come up with that quote for your work, Dave!
I think you do now know pretty much what you've got to make...
Big smokes = big money, we have big money.

but not
Yes,

How do we get to that sum?
