I don't really want to get into buying kit for people to use.
Props fine... but not kit!
I'm just thinking how well recived warrens kit hire has been recived and for
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
Has warren's kit hire been well received? When I talked to him last week I got the impression nobody had gone for it.
But all this lot is not going to cost us
Well it appeared so from reading general posts, perhaps people said, they'd hire it then went and bought it.
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
One person has ordered some... according to the thread.
Hardly worth our hassle!
Actually for this one, a couple of wicker laundry baskets would be ace.. rectangular ones that it as supplies were dropped and transported in them at Arnhem.
Arse.. after googling for ages i cant find a pic of them, they are bloody big rectangular wicker baskets with lids on them...
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
I know the sort of thing you mean, you can buy similar things on the high-street in the sort of shop the girlies go to...
er... I don't have room to store them!
Okay... BTW, I'm happy to now supply funds to pay for Guy's mortars and Dave's print work from BotB.
I honestly can't see us spending all this money!
Well then lets not and when we have a few events under our belt and 2k in the kitty then we hire some bunker complex for a all singing all dancing cqb nightmare...
Or we do go mad and hire some period miltary vehicles.. not form the hire firms but we put adds on wwii re-enacitng seeing if anyone is interested in bringing a vheicle along and being paid realisiticlaly for its use.
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
erm... I'm not too happy about having all this cash just sitting in my account indefinately.
Can we not open up- a CiA account that requires two signatories to remoive cash from?
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
I think I would prefer that.... but I have no idea how to do it.
I dont think its that hard, clubs and societies do it all the time, i used to know what accoutn type you had to have
Basically its liek any other account but needs to ssignatories to get cash out to stop any one person running off wiht the money
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
Why do some of my posts have an advert sig and some dont?
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
Your first post on a page has a sig... the rest don't... just like ascuk!
I'll try and remember to pop into the bank to get the forms I need tomorrow. It'll be HSBC as thats the one I normally deal with.
Sorry Gadge , hire kit is not a route I want to go down and is fraught with problems . Who looks after it, what happens when it gets knackered lost or stolen ?. We have enough to worry about organising games than to feck around handing out kit on the day . Most players seem relatively capable of sorting their own kit out. I don't mind lending my persoanl stuff to people i know , thats as far as I want to take it .
Sorting out a bank account is a good idea, I would suggest we are all signatories to avoid confusion . If we can access the statements on line that will be better as well . Without being morbid, if Yith dropped dead tomorrow we could run the risk of loosing all the deposits etc unless we could convince a greiving Mrs Heath to give us it back .
I would suggest we need some sort of official status for CiA . we're not a company per se, are we a society, a club , a charity ? We have ot be careful what we choose that we don't become liable for tax in any way . I'm not an expert in small business, but I know a man who may know more than me .
BTW I don't want paying for the mortars, it was a worthwhile donation at the time , and one I was happy to fund . i'm more than happy to continue prop building on a cost only basis .
Or we do go mad and hire some period military vehicles
up for some of that !
One of my biggest pet hates back in my Firefight days was dealing with rental gear. To get handed back a pile of wet, muddy, 'orrible combat gear at the end of the day is not fun. Then you have to launder it. Then you *never* have the right bloody sizes for those that turn up - its a world or hassle. Interrupted by the missus shouting at you for clogging the washing machine with mud again
Regarding turning it into an Association or whatever, it's a good idea and worth investigating.
When we were a Kingdom it was run by a King
When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........
Yup, I'm against hiring kit for all the reasons Guy outlined. We want to encourage players to buy their own (which they have).
Don't want to be elitised about it but I wouldn't want 'walk-ons' turning up and dressing up to play WW2 - it has to come from the soul and this thing has worked so far from players enthusiasm for the period.
They can hire from Warren, borrow kit or buy lookey-likey - that is more than an easy way in and it doesn't involve us.
As for a more official basis for banking - it has to come sooner or later, apart from anything else it's not fair on Rich.
However, when it comes to setting up bank accounts and anything 'official' then some constitution formalising CiA will have to be made and I'm not sure it is going to be worth the hassle at this stage. But if we did then it would be on a simple club style basis (companies and charities are out!!) - it would be interesting to see if there are online banking accounts for such these days, guess it would be view statement only.
What is important is simple accounting, if the tax man does become interested then ring-fencing and robust income/expenses information is essential!
