Whermacht Garrison Orders
Soldiers of the Reich, the retreat from France was an outstanding success, our brave tactical withdrawal has fought the allied armies to a standstill. Our forces here in the town of Arnhem must continue to remind the local populace that the Whermacht is fully in control here.
We must however remember that the Netherlands and the town of Arnhem are virtually important to the Reich and maintain an active and visible presence in this city. Standing patrols must be established in the towns main buildings, periodically we will send out security patrols to ensure the loyalty of the local populace.
Men, please remember that recent Abwher reports show increased partisan activity throughout the Netherlands and there is every possibility of local civil unrest. I expect you to show no leniency to any outbreaks of disorder while still maintaining civil contact with the towns populace.
Field Marshall Model has his headquarters at the Hartenstein hotel, unsecure Anwher reports lead us to beleive that a small size commando raid may be employed to kidnap Model in the same way our glorious forces liberated El Duche from Italy - be vigilant.
St Elizabets hospital currently provides medical support for eastern front troop convalesence and should also be garrisoned if possible.
Standing orders:
Standing patrols of half sections to patrol the following locations:
Arnhem road bridge
Marshalling yard
St Elizabeth's hospital
Hartenstein hotel
1st National Netherlands Bank
Police patrols to sweep the town every hour.
Please remember that the Arnhem bank currently houses art treasures of great national value, the Reich's Kriminal Poliezei believe that a local criminal syndicate intend to steal these treasures and local garrison troops are advised to be vigilant.
Actions on:
Civilian contact: Whenever possible maintain cordial relations with the the Dutch, should you expect a Dutchman of dishonest activity you may search any civilian, should you find contraband or evidence or partisan activity they must be escorted to an NCO who will forward them to the Gestapo.
Partisan Activity: You may not fire upon civilians unless fired upon. Once fired upon you *must * shout 'halt security forces, surrender or we fire.' If they resist arrest you are authorised to use lethal force.
Allied forces: If possible attempt to force then to surrender, however take no chances. Remember the fuhrers 'commando order' you may execute air or seaborne raiders and need not take prisoners.
Other forces of the Reich: Our brothers in the Waffen SS are stationed on the outskirts of the town, where possible support these 'soldiers' but remember that our we take our orders from the OKW.
