Really, REALLY, we mustn't have the German regen at the communal campsite base.
Very bad idea.
Agreed.
Ideally, the two bases used for the days play should be equidistant from the campsite.
not a chance due to the terrain .
No real reason why the campsite can't be the german base at all IMHO . It's supposed to be a large german munitions dump ...which is what it will look like with everyones tents set up & there is no reasons for the Russians to go within half a KM of it . Why make everyone move their kit and ammo twice?
Plus where else is it going to go , other than 20 m further down the same road ? Clear at game on , that it is not the safe zone ( official safe zone is up on the top road where they'll be parking their cars. )
Happy to have other regens in the form of flags as well .
No real reason why the campsite can't be the german base at all IMHO.
I can't overemphasise this enough.
If you put the German regen and reload at the campsite you will have an almighty pissed off bunch of Russians. The level of ill feeling after CR was pretty high regarding the placement of the German camp. Now, although this one isn't in the centre of the game zone it is still going to be highly controversial.
The Germans won't have to take any of their kit with them as they'll be able to pick up kit from the camp when they head back there after an hour or so, the Russians will have to take everything they need with them either dump it at a safezone/basecamp somewhere of hump it with them all day. The Germans will also be able to hang around their tents, brew up, have a chat and a bit of a rest if they want with all their kit and 20th century convenience right there with them.
Considering the Germans are going to have vehicles to move them around the site for the first part of the game I can see people getting mightily pissed off before they've even started trying traverse the site.
I'm sure we can easily find a place to put the German base leaving the camping area neutral for anyone to head back to if they need to for whatever reason.

Could we have a think about pyro requirement (remember we don't have much of a budget - 10g bangs-in-a-tube should be sufficient for power).
As I will be seeing Tony at D-Day we can get him to bring it, I can pay him there and then, with no courier charges.
Given your description of the effectiveness of them when in a cardboard tube I think it's a good idea. Easier to carry and store too.

Pyros ....
Nice to have 15gs (10s a lot smaller than 25) as bang in a box for convoy stopping - will need around 15 - we can make up the boxes aforehand .
10gs will make a good "ammo box" ammo - for the Germans to defend and the beardies to blow up - will need 10 max
four or five 3" napalms would be good as well for general mayhem , plus a couple of boxes of ball grenades if we can run to it .
Be nice to have some big boat smokes if Jay can still get em cheap !
With all that lot it'll give us some options as to having any pyro bombards or not .
I'm writing up the game plan , will post on Wednesday latest.
Bit later than planned, I've had to prepare to command the hunters at next weeks E&E unexpectedley , and also get my shit together to present "a talk" at my interview on Tuesday .....as well as the endless kitchen shit .
Bloody hell, way too much pyro - we''l never use it all let alone have the cash - how much is the game generating?
These roadside charges will be close to people and 50% of them will not be in close control - if a Mk5 grenade is sufficient to stop a vehicle surely we don't need colossal bangs?
10g "bang in a tube" sounds fine to me, why go larger if we don't have to?
If anyone is talking about lobbing pyro in front of a vehicle, then it has to be Mk 5 max. Don't think that any of us want to deal with injuries from bits of slate flying off the road surface....
When we were a Kingdom it was run by a King
When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........
Not as I had quite envisioned then
I would like controlled E dets set off by myself or Stephen a good 10 m in front of the convoys, dug into the side of the roads not the actually road surface . Hastily lobbed MKVs are not the way to go .
No, no lobbing Mk 5's - I was illustrating a point. It doesn't need collasal bangs to stop a vehicle, the smaller the charge, the closer it can be to the vehicle, the more realistic it will be. 30ft is a long way away! Plus you will have a problem if there is a foot patrol accompanying the vehicle or a leading scout group.
Napthas are nasty things, not sure they would be a good idea anywhere near trees and tree litter. We set F&O on fire last week with a smoke grenade - quite a blaze!
10gm bang in a tube it is then . Assuming we'll have 7-8 "ambushes" suggest we get 10 charges .
We also need something inside the ammo box for the Partisans to blow to show they have destrotyed the ammo, and something only the organisers can detonate , 5gms would work , we'll need 10 of them too .
Sunday morning is still the big open Q to me at the mo . If we go for the Katusha option , do we want a corresponding barrage as well ? In which case what size and number ?
Don't forget we have existing props to use: swing barriers will make good ambush points if the germans have to dismount to lift the barrier. Everyone will be very cagey about an attack - which may or may not happen - the ambush could be on the next barrier or not at a barrier at all but a blind bend , say.
Also the drop cylinders - RAF (or whatever the Russian air force was called) has supplied the partisans - who will get there first? Will it be intercepted en route having been collected? Map reading, watches and compasses required.
Don't forget to all bring a copy of the game plan I don't want to have to answer any organiser saying "whats happening next?" it's all written down there !
Can someone print me a copy. I dont have easy access to a printer at the moment.
