Have tidied up the forum a bit , CW is going to see if he can let Diggah in to the holy of holies.
Now we've got confirmed date and cost, and TEHL is up and going we need ot get going with the launch?

First thing

Partisans / Russians

Need to get going with this and drum up some Russkis now we’ve got a firm date and venue . Also can we involve Diggah in this sub forum ?

Suggesting the following as a guide

Uniforms

Any period / close post war /replica Russian Gear .See Russian section .

For Partisan

WWII style civvies.
At the basic level just a greatcoat over olive drab trousers with a jumper would work . Or possible even a Donkey Jacket, or whatever the local charity shop has. Bear in mind you’ll want stuff appropriate to living outside for 24hours.
Canvas, wool , felt etc . Jackboots could work well or just normal boots . Beards would be excellent
US M1 helmets without the netting or obvious US insignia are quite close , or Ushankas .
Webbing wise a mixture of period gear would be great, some lend lease some captured, although stuff with swastikas on might be a little unlikely.

Weapons can be anything as per the normal rules , MP40s as captured , US/GB weapons as lend lease , Russian if ya got em .

Comments ?

Secondly

Would like ot stress the sneaky beaky aspects ofr both sides. Germans are hunting Partisan, and vice versa in a big area , lots of ops for ambush etc . We'll have a couple of large scale battles as well , how can we get this concept over?

One thing, as it's still five months away I'd hold off opening bookings and just keep people's appetites whetted with snippets of information. Perhaps open bookings at the end of February. Most people won't know their work/family shift patterns yet.

As for the sneaky beaky nature, I'd put it right up front, and possibly even in a tagline for the event. Say right from the get go that it's a 24hr semi-milsim event, although stay away from the actual word milsim.

Perhaps something like:

Ostfront: An Immersive Airsoft Experience.

Except better than that! ;)

Ostfront - Burn Villages! Execute partisans! be a member of an Einsatzkommando!

OK, probably not a good idea ;)

For the intro blurb, try to get across the nature of the event. Evoke images of the seemingly endless size of Russia, the bitter war of Germans Vs Partisans, the hardship faced by both sides, the ambushes, the brutal counter attacks etc etc

How about Ostfront - The Eagle and The Bear

When we were a Kingdom it was run by a King
When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........

agree on avoiding MILSIM , its anachroistic to our period, Immersive Airsoft Experience is too Josh though . Not sure about boking but want ot get the game out there soon as we need people to go out and build up kit for it (no partisans )
was tempted by trying to go for a bit of "living history", ie trying to combine airsoft with a bit more reeanctment , so expect living like a partisan with some airsoft , rather than pitched battles for 24 hours ? Thats my idea ,but not sure how to express it more subtley

Guy, how would you want us to split ourselves on each side?

I could put together a partisan loadout and Tommy/MP40 quite easily, but would need to borrow German kit (again!).

Also, speaking to Kerstin, she knows this area pretty well and was saying that the woods around there have a very unfriendly and malignant feeling to them which should bode well for night-time activities!

Cheaky f***ers!!

Ok I aint the fittest guy in the bunch but I make a damn good effort! Looks like its atomic wedgie time for HS ;)

Anyway back on topic, have any of you seen the film The Star? I can lend a copy out if you've not. Its about a Soviet scout group going behind enemy lines in spring '44 (so very apt). Perhaps theres a way of linking that in? I know Gadge is/was keen on the scout stuff.

My concern with Partisans would be how they would interact with the dynamic flow of both sides, for EG partisan group heads off and does a deep strike but due to not being kept in the loop returns to find the lines have all shifted and spends the rest of the game trying to find another group.

Fun tho it was to play the dutch resistance at Arnhem, I felt very much out of the loop of things for the most part (but hey, thats probably me).

No longer involved in airsoft.
