According to Metcheck.com the weather for Ludlow (anyone suggest a nearer bigger town?) on the 9th to the 11th is supposed to be glorious sunshine with little or no precipitation anywhere :)
Its not even that cold at night - temp range is around 17C daytime and around 10C night time. Marvelous.

Admittedly its still a way off but its nice to have some indication.

Well, apart from anything beyond a three day forecast being a complete guess, it was lovely in Shropshire over the weekend the nights are still pretty chilly as the ground is quite waterlogged and everything feels damp. Hopefully in the woods the trees will have soaked some of the ground water up so it should be a little drier.

I think we should still prepare people for the worst.

S

Im planning on a Gortex bivi on a Nato camping roll, a basha over head and a nice arctic sleeping bag inside. That seem ok to you?
Not done camping without a tent before but I cant afford to carry the weight of one.

You'll be fine. I've got my pup tent and a basha. If it's really chilly and windy you can put the basha right down to the ground.

Basha + Goretex Bivi bag + Brit army arctic sleeping bag = comfort. Spent many a night outside (in some pretty foul weather, at times) like that back when I was an instructor with the ACF (god, thats a *long* time ago now!)

If you sort your kit out properly, you wont even have to get out of your maggot bag to cook brekkie :D

My original plan was to go with the tent that Albion Canvas have been making for me, but it doesn't look like Alan is going to get it done in time :( so i'll probably be going with a 4-zelt setup - but i'm still chucking the small Terra Nova in the car just in case it goes shit-shaped.

But you will for the inevitable piss that you will need to take about 10 seconds after you have finally found a comfortable position to sleep in.....just as it starts to hammer it down.

Piss bottle is the answer to that.

Yes, well, did that once, and only with moderate containment success. :slap:

Good idea - I'm going to get one of those very wide-necked Lucozade bottles.

Cracking idea, but make it it holds at least a litre - you'd be surprised at how much comes out and how hard it is to stop
2l orange juice bottle, ideal - keeps your hands warm as well / can be thrown at neighbour.

You need to work on those pelvic floor muscles my man. Useful for controlling many types of penile function. ;)

Current forecast - rain Sat night, getting heavier during Sunday. Temps and wind don't look too bad though.

Well I've near emptied a can of Fabsil on my cape in preparation for that eventuality :)

On a completely unrelated note can anyone pick me up from Newtown station after 16:09 on Friday?

Hey, just realised -ski is Polish, it should be -vich.

So, Benovich, satnav says 2hrs from my place to the rail station - I'm skiving off most of Friday so can pick you up from an earlier train, if you want/if it's possible.

BTW, long term forcast is made up randomised gibberish. The Sunday keeps changing from mild and sunny to torrential rain.

Erm. I think my train ticket is fixed time but I'll be in Shrewsbury at 15:17 :)

As for the weather I think Im prepared for pretty much anything as long as its not extreme. Meh not much we can do about it now anyway.

Shrewsbury at 15.17 it is then - won't save me any time but as i have to go round Shrewsbury anyway so it will save you a train change....
