Well first the Date... Sunday 17th December... not confirmed yet.

We need to keep hassling Gucci about this... anyone can do it!

BTW his MSN address is: coolhandmarkwo@aol.com

As for other stuff...

Still need to discuss costs with him. Do we want to get people to pay extra so that we can get extra pyro for artillery barrages etc?

He's happy with the idea of deposits but we need to work out who will receive them and how.

One problem is actually getting deposits off people... they don't like to do it! We need to find a way of encouraging them to get them to us!

I'm all for warning players that if we don't get enough deposits in by a specified date then the whole thing is off. whether we actually do cancel it in the case of too few is up to us (and gucci).

I also think we need to a place to put a list of players that have confirmed with the status of their deposits... Publicly. This sort of thing has worked well for Lightfighter in getting deposits off people.

Other than weekend long games I've never paid a deposit to play airsoft

F&O doesn't normally charge a deposit , is it really neccessary here .? If we get to two weeks before then we will know if we have a go or no go for pyros etc and still have time to get them in . The main thing we need to understand is when the FC charge Gucci for the day , and how much . If it's a small charge >£200 I/we could underwrite it in case of cancelation, or agree to concel the event for lack of numbers by a certain date to avoid him loosing out .

The list idea on LF's normal days I think is a good idea, it will give a rough idea of numbers .

If we are asking normal players to buy some kit for this event , charging a large amount or asking for deposits could sink it altogether .

I don't think charging a large amount is necessary at all! Gucci's open day price is usually £20 and I suggest we at most go for £25 to pay for the extra pyro like at the nam events.

At that level we have just £10 at most as the deposit (I'd be happy with £5). The point is it gives people the incentive to get off their arses and make the effort as they've already invested in the day. If we go down the voluntary deposit route we could even give a discount of a couple of quid to people who pay deposits.

To me an airsofter who can't manage to pay a deposit for a special event like this one is probably one that won't turn up anyway and certainly won't take part to their fullest.

But if people don't like the idea of deposits then fine... I just want to be sure we actually know what the ratio of allies to axis will be on the day and how many will turn up. In the end it'll make our lives on the day a lot easier.

I don't want 40 allies versus 5 axis!!

£25 seems fine to me , perhaps £20 for pre payers.

I would suggest you don't assume everyone out there thinks the same way as you , it's a "special event" for those few of us who have an interest in WWII , for many others it's just airsoft with a difference. If you cater only for the former group to the expense of the latter I reckon this may result in about only 10 of us being there IMHO .

Hmmm... I hear you loud and clear...

£25 for players on the day £20 for prepayers (with say a £10 deposit).

Means that depending on the number of players who turn up on the day without paying deposits determines the amount of extra pyro we get for barrages... a pretty cool solution.

....speaks from bitter experience of organising other events !

Hopefully once we get it up and running and start taking names we'll have a better idea of numbers .

Ps I'm happy to bung a ton into a kitty to get things rolling with Gucci if that's what it'll take .

£25 sounds OK to me.
50 people x £25 = £1250
Really need to know how much Gucci is going to charge, but this should surely be more than enough!

Business-wise I have never been a fan of giving discounts. An incentive to pay up is fine but why give money away? How about early enlisters to choose division/sqaud, late joiners get what they are given?

Aha... worked out why Gucci isn't online... He's on holiday in Spain!

He should be back before the weekend though.

I take it we've nailed the date now ? I would suggest next step it to meet up at F&O to discuss with the Gucci as per other thread .

The date is still not "nailed"

I sent an email to Gucci about this on Monday and received no reply...

We need to keep hassling him!

Is anyone else getting a bit twitchy re F&O - why no confirmation yet? I am going to do some posters and there is an advert to do as well - all need the correct info on them!

I concur . I don't know Mark personally , I was hoping Yith was tying this up with him , althought I apologise if I've just mentally assigned him this task without his knowledge
After the recent "private game" thing I'm a lil worried  esp if we are going to go big guns with the advertising shortly .

As a fall back I am aware that LFU have now got another woodland site, and I'm told SP has an interest in looking at running WWII and Vietnam games, but I've not spoken to him at all about this so could be another wrong "ASS of U and ME ! "

BTW I'm told there were a fair few Axis at LFU this last Sunday, plus of course our resident Chindit !

Okay... I've not had a word with Gucci for a few days, but will keep pestering... I also am a bit twitchy... but I think we'll be okay.

LF do have a new woodland site and I do know that LF want to run some Vietnam games there... but WW2 is a long way off... also LF have put down the day we're planning this for as a woodland open day. But don't worry I have even closer links with Shaun and Sean than I do with Gucci... them being quite close friends of mine... so we'll see what happens... certainly I'd like to run one at the new LFW after we've done the F&O game anyway!

As for the game at LF... yeah I did see a couple of guys in German kit at LF... but just the uniforms and then only one with full uniform. They didn't have appropriate webbing or weapons... in fact I think they were hire players. Also the one I did shoot seemed a bit reticent about taking his hits... not too impressed.

OK, keep up the pressure with Gucci then. Both Strines and Phoenix woodland are good to go but I want this to be at F&O! Been planning a WW2 day at Phoenix Urban for the past year too but not got round to it!

Okay... just had a chat with Gucci:

Yith says:heya
Gucci says:hola
Yith says:hows stuff?
Gucci says:not 3 bad chief, u?
Yith says:yeah very good thx... very good indeed
Yith says:Just wondering what's going on with the site booking for the ww2 game... we've got 11 people booked in already, but you've not got back to us with a confirmation for the date yet... this is leaving the guys a little twitchy... so to speak.
Gucci says:they is going to have to continue to twiitch chief. Not in my hands. I keeps chasing it up but until I get the all clear I can't confirm fella.
Yith says:how long do you think we'll have to wait?
Yith says:just so I don't have to keep pestering you every week!
Yith says:lol
Gucci says:piece of string chief, could be today or next month-fuck knows.
Yith says:okay
Yith says:but you're trying... thats what matters
Gucci says:I'll let u know as soon as I know fella, best I can do
Yith says:did you get chance to take a look at our website and forums?
Gucci says:yes I am, got stuff of my own I want to do
Yith says:I'm sure!

So you know... we need to keep asking...
