Size; Adjustable.
Is it? Unusual for a Brit helmet if it is.
Post a picture of the liner? You may have something valuable.

You really need to have a picture if you want to sell this. Your description doesn't fit with what a regular MK2 or MK3 helmet looks like inside.

I think his description matches what a regular MkII (yes, and MkIII) helmet looks like inside. Brit helmets of the era do have both an adjustable (as well as sprung) chinstrap, and a "shoe-lace" type adjuster leather crown.

Regular MkII adjustable chin strap. Note the presence of a buckle which makes it adjustable:

Regular WW2 era helmet liner. To clearly show shoe-lace threaded through the ends of the adjustable 5-piece leather crown):

Yeah, but doesn't it have a bit of string as well?

I must say I've not studied a MkV in that much detail...

It's just a wide elasticated band, just like a sock-top or "knitted cuff".

So now we've narrowed it down to anything from a Brodie to a MKIV maybe a picture would resolve this and get a sale
Unless the real point is to show off what you know about Brit helmets...
