Ok so im starting a new kit, done my yank infantry impression now i want to do a British infantry impression, before moving on to Airborne.
So sing as i live in Devon and the Devonshires fought in almost every campaign i though i might as well do a Devonshire load out for Infantry and Airborne.
Problem is i want to keep it cost effective (ie low as possible) so i was thinking of just going for a BD Blouse from S&S and some BD Trousers from Surplus and outdoors or to keep costs down a WW2 Style commando jumper http://www.surplusandoutdoors.com/ishop ... r1242.html then just grab a Web Set and Gaiters from SOF to try and avoid confuddlisation but hopefully wont cause it  .

then all i need is some headwear where im frankly quite stuck i need to know what type of Berrets they would have worn what insignia what uniforms they wore ect so where could i russle up this information form a good source ?

Okay... done a VERY small amount of investigation for you.

In NWE as you say the 2nd Battalion Devonshires were in the 50th Division and were a standard infantry regiment. Hence the look will be very similar to the one I have for the hallamshires... see here:
http://www.ww2airsoft.org.uk/zoom/hallamshires.html

The main difference will be the insignia on the arms.

At the top you should have a white on red shoulder title saying "DEVON". Below that you will have a 50th Division Formation Patch.

The interlocking TT which is for Tyne Tees if I remember right.

Below that you'll have 3 red arm of service stripes as they were in the tertiary brigade.

Normal combat headgear would be the tommy helmet as I'm wearing in the pic I linked.

For out of combat you'd wear a GS Cap/Beret with the Devonshire Regiment cap badge. Which I assume is this one:

(note this is in two colours of metal, which I think is correct)

The uniform would definitely be BDs as I'm wearing there. Things like jumpers may be worn by commandos or officers but certainly not normal infantrymen.

Note that is all assuming the they were following the normal rules applied in general to all regiments. This didn't actually folow in all cases, for instance the Hallamshire's red on serge shoulder titles.

The best way to check is start doing searches on the internet. I tried a bit myself before hitting my books but didn't find much.

Hope that helps!

Any more questions, ask away!

For Devonshires as Airborne, you'd be looking at the 6th Airlanding Brigade, 12th Battalion Devonshire Regiment

For that the look is similar to my South Staffords loadout here:
http://www.ww2airsoft.org.uk/zoom/staffs.html

But with the Devonshires cap badge.

Don't put any insignia on the denison.

Here are a couple of pics of 2nd Devonshires in Germany. Looks like there might be a dark fabric backing on the cap badge.-- attachment is not available ---- attachment is not available --

If you're looking to save money then run your wish list past Sabre and S&S before going to SoF. Monty's Locker is also a top place to buy correct WWII insignia (thanks Yith :D ) and you might even get some free info and advice if you call him to place your order.
