Hello all. So I feel like badging up my Battledress for skirmish games to make my impression look a bit more authentic but I'm not really sure which regiment to pick. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Regards,

Ralph

What sort of time frame are you looking at? For early war BEF/1940-41 slip on titles were used(I think you can get them from a shop called Monty's Locker), which as you can imagine are much easier than sewing on titles, seen as you've got an SMLE this might be more suited to you impression. Alternatively, if you want to go with the whole division patch, red shoulder title set up then maybe find out what your local regiment would have been, or the regiment of a family member who served?

It might be worth mentioning that no insignia is just as authentic as official documents stated that insignia wasn't to be worn on Battledress. Also the slip on shoulder titles aren't exactly colourful, so from a distance it probably wouldn't look like you have insignia on.

As Moss has said, to look most "authentic", wear no insignia at all! If you'd like to at least have a splash of colour, wear your chosen division patch, then if that still isn't enough for your tastes, add a pair of regimental/corps shoulder titles...

I just fancy adding a bit of colour to the uniform really. The Essex regiment was off fighting in the far east so that's not really suitable but I have thought about RAF regiment shoulder insignia as my Grandad was a rock ape in the war.

Give me a big enough hammer and a place to stand and I could fix the world.
i'll kill a man in a fair fight or if i think he's going to start a fair fight or over a woman or.......
