indeed they were, they just dount look as good as the beret, + it lightens the load on there poor old legs, ( more ammo etc)

we wear the cap comforters, (winter) nice bit of kit, and its supprising how much the RM green shows up even in woodland,
i often get " all we saw was your beret coming out of the bushes" :)

but it cant be as bad as the para maroon :)

I use the cap comforter quite a bit as well... as does Gadge for that matter.

The solution to the maroon beret problem is a camo face veil... Gadge ties his around his beret... I just chuck mine over my head also as a result camoflaging my face :)

Yeah have done for some time.

I find them a bugger for outdoors stuff thoug, even with memeory metal frames, i sued to soldier in glasses but wore contacts when not doing anything that required getting filthy.

I've not seen that osprey pic, link?

i'd like to post up some in NWE, got a good one of a commando CO with a N05 on his shoulder, dated jan-feb 45.
but scaning in pics is never good + the pics are allways a little bad,

i wish the BBC would do a good vertion of BOB, but with the story following a commando unit from there individual regular service, then follow them at basic training achnacary etc, norwegian raids etc to D-Day and all the way to VE day,

spred over ten eps would be awsome,

I always thought Pegasus Bridge would make a good 3-4 part miniseries. But then again I think any story following a group of soldiers would be good. :)

ye thers been a few in the last 10 years or so, mostly a little crap, and allways kinda showing use (uk) as half whits, stumballing around getting buggered by the germans, wich we were to some extent but not allways ;)
or with very comical and slitly daft music to ???

and that was a N05 jungle carbine on his shoulder, :)

I've seen pics of Royal Marine Commandos wearing what look like Denison smocks instead of BD. Is that peculiar to the RM, or did Army Commandos wear them too?

If you look at picks of normal infantry they had them in 45. The commandos had them in time for the amphibiouse assault on walchen island.
