Should the "correct" Browning HP for British/Commonwealth use have the tangent sight, or the more usual notch a la M1911A1s?

According to 'Weapons of the WWII Tommy' by D. B. Gorden, it can be either, the tangent sight ones were made for the Chinese but were never delivered so they were issued to British and Canadian troops, the notch sight ones were the standard design for British and Canadian troops.
