Hello gents,
quick question regarding the Epic Militaria BD trousers. Are they any good? I'm not looking to full on re-enact with them so they don't really need to be stitch perfect. I am aware of the other companies already recomended on the forum, so i have back up plans if they are rubbish!

i would love to buy "real" period battledress but as a 6 foot 3 ex-rugby player they just don't often come up in my size!

thanks in advance

I've not seen them in person, but they look good in the photo and the price is good.

When I had a look at it at the last Stoneleigh, it seems to be very similar (mabey the same?) as the 'Spearhead' BD.

Agree, striking similarity to the Spearhead stuff I had.

Good or bad is very subjective! They are fine for the price and look the part - kit a bit closer to original material/construction/durability is much dearer. Soldier of Fortune/What Price Glory BD set will cost best part of £200, Epic's is £70 or so cheaper. SoF material is thicker and more like the colour and fibres of the real thing, the Epic material is smoother and a single brown yarn weave (so looks a bit like bespoke tailored officer's material). The Epic trousers I have are rather bobbly now, shaving would make them thinner still. :D

And then there is the issue of fit... always best to try on at a show. Made to measure would be fab.

As always, yer pays yer money and takes yer choice. Epic's version isn't rubbish but you can get better if you have the funds as there is a good reason dearer kit is dearer.

Absolutely. As i am just staring out and have more kit to purchase in one go, (thus spreading the budget) i figured that getting a 6 or 7/10 replica is much better than not getting anything at all. When i have (inevitably) become more immersed i will no doubt retire them to the "loan" pile and get SOF/WPG. :)

+1, I have their 1940 BD and it's been through plenty of skirmishes. Should it ever wear out, I will have had my money's worth for sure. Keen to try their denims as well.
