I'm pretty sure you'd both need Sgts stripes too. I think every GP was at least a Sgt.
I could be wrong on that but i think it was a bit like every MP being a l/cpl
Otherwise the kit is pretty identical once you're on the ground to any other airlanding soldier. I've seen some sources claim that GPs were issued commando bergans but I've yet to see anything conclusive they were 'standard'.

I've come across that too (probably in the same books!). Bergens instead of small packs.

I've read that but I'm sure only on forums.
There was a super GPR site [run by a guy called Steve?] I cant find it now. Total Soldier or similar.
I'm always surprised when people say, 'I want to do XYZ unit' and then have no idea how they dressed. Some research must have been done to chose that unit? That's why I only said 'rank' on denison, I assumed the research would have shown you must be a Sgt or over.
So, lets not forget the GPR nappy and booties in AAC light blue, worn for the Market Garden and Varsity ops.

It took some time to track this guy down as he switched from a website to a blog.
He has a good take on what you need to be GPR.
