Final part of my Load out. I'm basing it on the Italien Campaign as after North Africa thats where my local regiment spent a good part of the war. Im thinking 1943-44 so my question was; At this point in the war were Field Service caps still the majority or had General Service Beret been issued ?

Do you have any pictures of the unit in Italy in 1944 with GS cap being worn?
Some units were made to change completely by the CO. Others had a mixture of GS and FS up to the end of the war.
If you have no evidence by picture what is the back story for your impression. Have you come through the Western Desert / North Africa or are you a Battle Casualty Replacement sent out the UK. In the latter case a GS cap would be more likely.
