I'm thinking of having a go at making a traditional ghillie suit in the style of the type the Lovat scouts used. I'm going to make it with:
1x Potato sack (for the body).
1x sand bag (for the hood).
1x f**k load of green and brown hessian strips.
1x scrim scarf to use as a face veil.
Some other fabric (possibly canvas) to make the mounts for the camo strips.
And one entire week of spare time.

Am I missing anything?

DISCLAIMER:
I know that ghillie suit were not common at all, but this is more of an experimental thing just as some thing to do this summer, and yeah I know not that practical for airsoft, but again this is just an experiment.

Hi,
Then you are able to achieve the Ghillie Suit in WW2 style?
I'm curious!

Yes they were around but the reason I abandoned this project is because they weren't common enough to warrant the time it'd take to make one, I think the Home Guard and the Lovat scouts were more or less the only people who used them. They've existed since before world war one, used by Scottish ghillie gamekeepers who utilised them and their hunting skills in the great war.

Also something to note, old style ghillie suits look nothing like your average commercial modern one.

These example are the wartime guide given to the Home Guard, and a repro made by a Home Guard Reenactor.-- attachment is not available ---- attachment is not available --
