I have No2 Commando insignia all ready to be stitched on to my Battledress Blouse.
But it seems a bit strange that a meticulous bunch like the Commandos would have worn any identifying insignia on raids given the higher likelihood of capture, even more so in light of the Commando order.
On the other side I've read of some elite Waffen SS and Großdeutschland units removing identifying cuff titles when threatened with capture or surrender. It just made me think.
I know there is probably no simple answer to this, but on the whole, did the Commandos actually wear insignia?

It wouldn't be worn in the field, it was probably just used on 'walking out' dress, I imagine.
