Fits like a dream in a tanker holster although they are not cheap to source i've since found..

Also my m10 fits both my p37 closed flap holsters but dieslmonkey had to re position the popper closure to fit his.

Strangley i have 3 37 pat holsters, all of slighly different sizes, all will take a webley, 2 would take 1911 size pistols, one would take a glock, strange eh?

no probs about the holsters, i kept back two from a few years back :)
i did ahve the mk1 full legth but i sold that to pay of a mouth on the morgage, shame cos it was very nice,

and i can allso use the normal 37 patt for the other 1-2
i,v allso got the pixi suits to, two originals and 3 post war green ones, they seamed to have been used by holland and allso germany in the 50,s

i,l only use the post war for gameing and keep the ww2 ones for spectal ocations,

tank holster:

Normal holster

Tank holster was originally a drop leg (see these multicam lads dont know the brits did it first) to make it easier to reach when sitting down in a crew station, however it turned out to snap a lot trying to get out of the tank (for the same reason the hammer spur was deleted from tank revolvers so you didn't accidentally cock them getting out.)

Although classed as RAC pattern various units used them, a lot of officers did because they could get away with it.

One commando unit banned them as they found that they caught too much sand and debris in the revolver if you crawl a lot..

so 1st pattern has a long drop leg strap and is as rare as panda spunk, 2nd pattern has it dleted on a belt loop, but still costs about £30

As mentioned earlier, I found on my standard 37 patt holster, which looks identical to Gadge's, that i had to take out the cleaning rod and reposition the press stud just to get it to close.

I'll probably try and pick up the tanker version at some point, purely because i think it looks better, but my modded one will do for now.

No flap is the main point but to be a real stitch counter here's the differences.

1: no flap
2: cartridge loops sewn on outside
3: Canvas loop slips onto belt rather than hook and loop fasteners
4: cleaning rod sleeve (this isnt on a lot of closed flap holsters but some have it)

Not all tank crews were issued "tank" holsters, they also used the "normal" pattern holster as well.

I thought I'd post a photo of my Grandad, Jack Burrows, who was RSM of the 8th Kings Royal Irish Hussars, it shows the normal type holster worn with his battledress.

He was a really interesting bloke, I've only just begun to find out just HOW interesting!

Sorry if I've gone a bit off topic, I just thought it might be of interest to see the kit worn as it actually was.
