Happen to pass by a surplus shop today  and picked up a couple of tin mugs.

There were 2 styles, both dated 1952 with WD markings, so bought 1 of each (only a couple of quid apiece).

Question is .... is one more appropriate than the other for WW2 or is it the normal 'different styles/types from different manufacturers' ?

Ahh, the darker one to hold newcy-brown for the northerners, and the lighter one for the shandy-drinking southerners ..... makes sense !! :slap:

Have been trying to find contemporary pics and most seem to match the one on the left ...........

heh.. yeah... I have no idea which is better or why they're different colours. I've had the same story scaleyback had (from the same people), but no other account to confirm it yet.

I use a proper early war white/blue indian made mug with my chindit stuff :)

I've a '53 dated light browner (like the one on the left). Have seen both though, but usually the squarer handle in seen in war-time photos (as it's the same as the white ones perhaps - so more of this shape?)
