Hi

There is a guy who goes to X site that makes Larp weapons. I have a plan to catch up with him regarding making some No4 and SMLE bayonets. I will come back when I have discussed and see if we can do something. This may take a time as I am busy with things not airsoft related for next couple of weeks.

that guy would be me!
sadly I am not prepared to make larp bayonets as larp safe weapons are to used for slashing and NOT stabbing/thrusting as one would a bayonet, the core may push through the foam and latex and cause an injury, espescialy if the weight of a No4 wielding tommy is behind it!
also, the blades would be really oversized due to the padding and latex and would not fit in a frog etc, sorry to dissappoint but I will not be making a batch of larp weapons this year due to time constraints, last years final project was a larp safe chainsaw although I will not rule out making a batch of fairburn sykes knives next year albiet with rounded off tips and for slashing the jerry guards only!
liam has found a manufacturer of ballistic rubber training weapons that produce M3's F/S daggers, mills bombs to name a few! watch this space!

Ah well. I was hoping to find a bayonet in scabbard all-in-one rubber moulding, so it would all be just one piece to sit inside a frog, and couldn't be used on the end of anything (I think a No.4 spike bayonet would be far to thin to larp foam!). I might find/fork-out/borrow a real-steel and make some moulds up and rubber-cast a few bayonet-in-scabbard props. Like this, but in black rubber compound:

why not just do what i do with my soviet kit and pour superglue into the scabbard, break the blade off and glue a quarter blade in so it isnt a long knife and cant be used?

If someone could persuade these guys to make some british knives then that would be awesome...

eg:
1907 pattern Bayonet (SMLE)
No4 bayonet (spike)
Fairbairn Sykes dagger

It might be worthwhile discussing this with our 'sister Site' in USA. There may be enough combined players that would justify thefieldwerks getting moulds made and a limited run?

Because I don't butcher/ruin war relics or anything with history behind it. sure, there's thousands about, but they're all individual.

I was mainly wanting a rubber one so that it could be layed upon without any painful repercussions. A welded up or glued up real-steel would still be too solid to be jumped upon every month.

Lets get a CiA petition going! If they see that there's a desire for them, they may be convinced to expand their product range :)

Come on mate they cost £3 and there are *millions* about then, landing on one is also no less painful than landing on a magazine...

Using that argument shoot and scoot guns 'butcher' war relics and we shouldn't be using them :)

Who said anything about not using them? I'm not preaching, just stating that 'I, myself' (and no emphasis on anyone else) don't like to do things that way. Anyways, S&S use unissued/decommissioned furniture, that is being put to good use in Warren's airsoft toys, in my mind :) Cheers for the suggestion, though.

I have 2 rubber training knives going spare-these are Fairburn knives -not FS jobs but the joint Anglo American variant that came afterwards-however they are the nearest thing thats available that looks good. They are a hard rubber and so won't waft about-ideal for knife kills of jerry sentries....

Can anyone post up picture of an SMLE bayonet in scabbard with measurements all over?

I'm thinking of making a wooden one as a prop to carry about. The scabbard would be pretty easy, just the shape and metal parts for it, the handle will be an issue.

I can't afford one and don't overly want a huge amount of steel sat in my bedroom! I'm a dab hand at wood work so thought I would give it a try.

If someone could do some close ups of bits and detailed measurements I would appreciate it greatly! Either stick them on here or PM me for my email address.

If it works I'll sticks photos up on here. Any help would be appreciated.

Jason

short or long?

i.e. WWI and North Africa length or the short Indian version... I have both.

I'll see if I can sort something, but can't promise a thing...

It's for an early WW2 kit, so the WW1 one would be best.

If you can get anything I would appreciate it greatly. Measurements of length of scabbard, circumfrence of it, size of handle, circumfrence and just a few general photos of it would be smashing.

I'll try and get my hands on one over the weekend to get a better idea but photos would be great.
