I know a few of your good selves own Shoot 'n' Scoot No.4s, but anyone bought one of Warren's No.1s/SMLEs? What are they like? Am I better off self-converting a Denix? Do they come with the 'enhanced' upgrades as per the current manufacture of S'n'S No.4s?

I've not seen one of Warren's, but i'd tend to advise against converting a Denix. for the amount of bits off it i've used, it's probably cheaper and better to use real bits, as the denix metal parts are made of cheap alloy anyway.

I'm currently in the progress of making one from a VSR-10 and original wood and metal.

So far I've got all the worky bits in. It just needs a mag well and the rear sight and rear top wood sorting really. Nige (scaleyback) has sorted out the stock joining part, but that's going to be glued when the rest is finished.

I'd post pics, but it's with scaley at the moment. He's hollowing out the mag well. I'm much happier that a skilled joiner is doing the hard bits! ;)

After he's done that it's really all cosmetic bits to be honest! :)

Has anyone managed to put the magazine in the right place yet?

That's going to be impossible with a springer. The length of the cylinder won't allow it.

I have no idea with a gas rifle, it may be possible.

I was looking at a Tanaka M700 the other day, and the magazine's in pretty much the right place, i.e. bang in front of the trigger guard.

No idea what it's like as a usable gun, mind!-- attachment is not available --

Funny you should mention that Evo. I've been looking at the Tanaka M24 and M700 as a potential base gun for a gas Lee Enfield. The longer 24 round mag looks close to the dimensions of(and could maybe be hidden in) an Enfield one. There's a whole raft of upgrades for these Tanaka guns as well, much more widely available than those for the K98. Biggest problem? The cost! The base gun is not cheap and on top of that is all of the Enfield parts as well. I'll get round to it eventually.

When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!

Yeah, that was my idea too, obviously the cost is the main factor, plus i've not seen inside an m700 yet, so i don't know how feasible it'd be, and it's a lot of money to splash out if it's a no-goer.
