Hello all

my BD arrived today from WPG so looking at putting my webbing together as I may well nip upto a open day this weekend. however I have one question. I cant see for the life of me how the water bottle hooks onto the belt. it has 2 small straps coming off it with buckles at the top. advice please?

oh also should the holster and water bottle cover be blanco'd?

cheers

i've got my water bottle attached to one end of one of the cross straps, after it's gone through the belt buckle at the rear, and the other water bottle strap is attached to part of my entrenching tool holder.

The water bottle cover should def. be blancoed (make sure you keep it stretched or put the bottle back in when you do it, or it'll shrink and you'll never get the bottle back in!) and i think the holster should be, as both were personally issued pieces of kit.

The airholes should be over your right ear in your beret, and the badge should be stitched on, i cut a small hole fot the pin to go through.

webbing: http://home.att.net/~g.wheeler/greenhow.htm

Beret...

Make sure the little tie/bow is right at the back... then put the beret on evenly so that the front is 1inch above your eyebrows and push the bulk of the beret over your right ear.

The cap badge goes above the left eye... to attach it make a small horizontal slit, push the slider in... Its best to put a couple of stitches somewhere to hold it in place.

old soldiers trick, push half a matchstick between the slider and the beret at the top of the slider, keeps it tight.

thanks guys. got it all together now and the unfirom on etc. defo need some braces as the trousers slip down alot. the uniform itself feels ok but doesnt feel like it moves naturally. the webbing however i need to adjust as it stops me from moving certain ways which i can see will get annoying during a skirmish

i do however look very spiffy heh

Top hole Rhys!

In the absence of braces, button your blouse to the trous - you should have all the correct buttons and holes at the back. That way there will be no comic moment as Rhys makes a suicidal rush at the enemy with his trousers round his ankles (meh, it might work - the enemy could die laughing...)

ah good tip thanks chomley will try that out. need to play a skirmish in the kit to break it in as I suspect the uncomfyness is because its a bit new and stiff

If you have 37 pattern then there should be belt loops... so a belt is possible...

braces:

I found the braces quite annoying. They're not elasticated and have a tendency to slip off your shoulders after a bit. I used some tape to make them more of Y shape at the back which seems to work better.

Yes, they are rubbish. I'm almost tempted to use captured German ones...

You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier

Another question for Yith... :D

I have a small green canvas respirator bag - where does that sit for an airlanding loadout?

It varies... but attached sideways at the back of your belt is most appropriate...

yea I know but I really want to use the uniform tomorrow and after having to wait for it to get here etc I really cant be fussed with more to-ing and fro-ing

besides for the price it'll be easier enough to get a 2nd pair

Quick question, how long did they take to turn up? i've just ordered from WPG yesterday, and wondered if they're likely to turn up in time for Husky?
