Id go for 24hrs in the field, ceasefire for a few hours at night, lug your kit into and out of the game zone, and eat in the field. Make it blatantly obvious to the players that this is a totally different style of game to BoTB and Arnhem.

When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........

Its all very well, but if we don't actually need the money then we can't really ask for it...

Unless we're changing direction and want to start making profit now?

Aye Kermit, that was what I thought the concept was for this game and very much like the idea.

Yith, been over this 'profit' thing many times - money doesn't go very far and I would like to take advantage of Beltring if we can.

I'm more than happy to help out with scenarios Guy if you want to brainstorm ideas.

I was thinking the other day a fantastic objective would be to capture a leading rocket scientist alive (he'd have to be an npc i feel - couldnt ask a player to do it.)

I fundamentaly disagree with rising the cost . We don't need shit loads of props, we just added a fiver to the standard cost. The price has been posted since January, and people have booked on that price. Rising the price is taking the piss and akes us look greedy .
It's good value - good ! Let's not become Town Ripoff 5 .
The real lesson is not to post the cost until we start taking bookings, but one learnt for next time perhaps .

Re 24 or 2 day , reckon consensus is with full 24 hour with a truce during the dark hours .

Hmmm, who put the cost on without consulting others?

Does mean that there will be no advertising at Beltring, a lost opportunity IMHO.

I agree with Guy...

Do we really need to advertise at Beltring?

Whats the point exactly? I don't want to run games with 150 players!

At the time, just after the Bulge, the group view was we were going to add

I didn't realise people had booked knowing the cost since January. I thought that went on with the recent announcement of paying deposits.

If people have booked and are paying deposits on the basis that it's costing them

It's a question of creating a pool of players that are available to play. We have done OK at the moment because it is new, we pretty much maxed out the pool on this game - we weren't turning players away. Soon folk will not be concerned about skipping a game, or travelling long distances and numbers will fall. How much easier it would be from an organisational POV if you have numbers confirmed and bookings paid for three months ahead - one less thing to worry about and no financial risk.
Cripes if you want to run a Russian game you won't have to rely on chaps getting another loadout, there will already be a group of Russians itching for the chance of a game!
Basic marketing really.

I agree with most of that , but also think we wanted to generate a movement which others would copy, hence we're all going to Caen . Lets not generate a standard high cost to go with it . I don't want CiA to become Stirling ripsoft II .

No no, me neither that's a given. We are non-profit making, no one draws an income so we will always be good value for money. Bit different from cheap though. KGB's site is cheap and they are still charging

BTW, Rob's using Ben's video on his forum as a demonstration of what they have to live up to:

righty.....
Here is what we have to live up to.
Its the video footage of the Arnhem game that went on this weekend just gone. A number of the players will be coming to our event, including the organisers, so we have to put on a top show. So get those uniforms looking pukka.

Not a bad vid, a bit too "airsofty" for me ( people running around taking hits etc, preffered Yiths BotB one . ) Nice that they are holding us up as a good example though .
