I would have thought that a no shooting at all policy is fine - no H&S issues at all to worry about but night patrols/recce missions will still be a hoot.

The general idea was for a ceasfire overnight mainly to stop players getting exhausted and being tetchy the next day .

Ed and Ian at IED are keen to keep the options of night combat open , albeit in a limited and controlled way as they did at the recent Vietnam game . Night fighting is standard IED fare .

My thought fro CR was play it by ear. We can arrange for a German patrol to bump into an Allied patrol in the early hours ( thinking 12-1) in an openish area that would allow a small amount of combat , but well away (1/2 mile) from both sides camping areas. It would need carefull managing by both sides to coordinate but would allow players who wanted ot do that to get it out of their system . I wouldn't want it going on much past 1.30 for the same reasons of sleep deprivation as above.

TBh they will be able to play all day till 11pm, thats nearly 12 hours of gaming in large country , 99% will hopefully be so bollaxed that after they've stood down they wont want ot go out playing silly buggers.

I think if we make it look publically like there is no night action, it leaves us with the option of doing something to cater for the diehards ifthere are enough players on both sides clammering to do so. I personally think there won't be .

My experience of other 24 hour events is varied ( I now play more 24-36 hour events than days ). IEd run a proper system of stand down , so you do get to sleep in bouts of 4 hours ot be on stag later on . Last E&E I managed 6 hours sleep in 36 . I don't think that would work at all for CR, it's too hard core and wouldn't add anything to the game .

TA events are 24 hour events, however it is more airsoft style. Players run around all day , try to stay up all night as well and then are tired assholes the day following . Most who say they want to fight 24 hours are normally in bed by midnight .

So to return ot CR, we post that it will be a cease fire. Plan a small action just in case. If at midnight (and I seriously doubt it) we have some players who want ot go and fight we will have something up our sleeves. If not, then we all get a good nights sleep .

I'm all for the break.. In my experience 24 hour games are usually flawed because most airsofters are just not up to it!

Yep that was my experience too unitl I started playing more with ex squaddies  , CiA ain't there yet and probably does not need ot go there.
I think our players would be happier at night sitting around a fire, talking stories ot each other than wandering around lost at Glyn Ceirog .

Damn, I was going to put that and forgot. I shall award myself a piece of Scho-Ka-Kola nonetheless.

What's IED's policy of knives and bayonets? Whilst I don't think there's a need for them in the field, there definitely will be in the camping areas. Will they be allowed?

You can bring what you like ....

IEd is an "adults only" site in all senses of the word . Hence mainly ex services players and no marshalls . New players are "vetted" for the major events .

It's why I like it up there so much . :D

Safety brief is pretty much ..." wear you googles at all times, don't be a cunt " iterally that was it last time .

Upgraded guns, big bangs, knives etc ,no one cares , you're assumed to be an adult and have a healthy respect for other people's safety and security and don't go out of your way to feck their relationship with the FC . If you disprove this you don't get invited back . Simplicity !

Ever driven "in game" through a wood at midnight using NV goggles only? No and I doubt you'll be doing it anywhere else  . Army barmy the lot of em !

Alles Klar ? You'll enjoy it !

Well, as long as the 'cnut' rule works both ways and they don't expect me to react like a sub-ord to them I'll be a happy bunny. Knowing Guy's tolerance levels for egotistical twattism though, I'm sure they're good guys.

To be honest I'm much more interested in the survival and woodsmanship aspects of military techniques than the shouting and screaming stuff. I'd rather sit quietly in the woods in comfort waiting for an enemy patrol to go by than go screaming around looking for shit to shoot. I suspect I might like this game.

Funnily enough, I get the feeling that a lot of people are looking forward to the living-in-the-field aspect of this game as much as they are to the shooty bits...

I know I am :)

No one cares just don't make a big fuss is the view
PS I normally carry a blank firer instead of a side arm , so much more fun

Nope our -game not theirs , if they are OCing their own games then submission to military stkle discipline is part of the game , but not for ours.

I'm sure they're good guys.

Yes they both are , Ian especially is very understated , but superb in the field and lives in Hereford. And no I've not asked .

Yep , thats the game I'm looking for :D . I've sexed up the scenario a bit to keep everyone in with a firefight , but living the life is what I'm getting out of this .

Right, but we're not talking silly, or illegal, velocities are we? I'm not partial to getting full-auto'd with what could be classed as a part 5 weapon.

Don't expect me to take any hits of your blank firer! "What you trying to do Kraut? Start a race?" ;)

Probably a good idea to keep the "upgraded guns" bit quiet. Or else, we're going to start seeing 420 FPS+ guns turning up. Not too bad if they're hitting you from 40M, but getting hit close up *aint* fun...

Why not just specify fps limits that we normally use?

i.e.
328/350fps (ish) absolute max for AEGs
450/500fps (ish) absolute max for bolt actions.

Yeah, if engagement distances are going to be close because of the thick cover there's no point in heavily upgraded guns, plus those of us who try to make do without will be out-ranged all the time.

Also, in thick woodland we could find ourselves happening upon one-another at close range and an itchy trigger finger on an upgraded gun could result in a lot of pain.

For the record, at Arnhem I spotted some of the jumpiest players I've ever seen! There were a couple of NDs into comrades because they got surprised and shot without IDing targets properly. Translate this to dense woodland and 5 metre engagements and it might not be pretty.

I'm telling you guys on the quiet what the score is at IED normally.

Kermit raised FPS , I'm assuming he has a hot gun he wishes to use in which case it's not an issue as far as IED are concerned . We have specified FPS limits for CiA games as Yith has pointed out . I suggest we officially keep to these for simplicities sake . What I'm really saying is don't expect them to get out a chrono because they won't. Most IED regulars use guns in the 350 -400 region , and take care with the engagement distances. The also normally operate an unofficial 5m bang rule for much the same reason .

The site is less dense that you think, especially in the plantations , which are mature and well spaced out . It's not a bunch of Rhodedendron bushes

lol, my decent guns are all quick change spring jobs, so changing the FPS is only the work of a few seconds :)

One thing to be aware of is that those running Tanaka K98's on green gas in the middle of June are quite likely to be doing 580 to 600 FPS.

Maybe a carefully worded post about sniper rifle engagement ranges then ?

Cool, just want to make sure people don't think they can run super-hot guns as the norm. If we keep to our regular FPS limits that'll be fine.

I'm not called HeadShot for nothing. My crown was opened up in several places because some twat decided to blind fire me at 380fps on full auto from about 2 feet away. It hurt.......lots.
