That is no reason to delete the fecking information.

At some point I may calm down about this. But I don't see it being any time soon.

Getting the booking details in is NOT just about the money. Its about organising the game. By deleting that information you've just made the whole thing a fecking ton harder.

Come on Richard - you have only got 26 players and you personally know most of them. We already discussed NCO's at the last meeting and the choice wasn't a hard one (or a very hard one, depending on how you look at it!).

Well thats a start... but I still need to know the weapons...

I need them because I need to know who is the dedicated snipers, I can hardly make them into NCOs.

Also I'm not making an NCO of someone who's got a crappy looks-like weapon!

Don't forget your two biggest assets- the site owners. Combined they have more real military experience than all the other players combined and they know the site backwards. With you, HS and those two you have four good leaders to control 26 players , even if the DRWs are defacto leaders only called "advisors" .

PS Nick (Airborne 55) is another IED regualar , ex TA Cheshires.

My concern exactly Steve...

However we need to organise into three squads for the day... The scenario requires it.

I see one British one with me leading it and two US ones with you and another guy leading them.

We can assign NCOs for the groups as well... but we need to identify who is leading the third group... in addition he needs to be a yank!

The 8-man teams led by you, me and Webby.

It'll all go to shit after half an hour anyway! ;)

So you'd discount someone as an NCO just because they dont have a STEN, Thompson, Garrand or Lee-Enfield?. No matter what their ability is?

Doesn't seem a good plan to me.

yes I think I would...

But a Thompson would be fine, maybe an M14.

But if they're using an MP5 or an AK then they're just not trying and don't deserve any of the extra respect or responsibility.

Exactly the same reasons why I don't think we should use any looks like weapons and absolutely minimum looks-like uniforms... We're setting the standard that the others can try and look up to.

I don't give tinker's cuss about weapons. It's their ability to lead, improvise, motivate and communicate well I'm more concerned about.

Yith - you can lead the Brits like that if you, but if I've got a Dick Winters-alike in my group who's carrying an MP5; they're my NCO.

A player who is expecting to snipe is not suitable for leading a squad, simple.

Oh, so let me think about this. Who would I choose as an NCO

1: The bloke with an MP5 and 22 years experience in the Infantry, and someone who has an innate ability to lead
2: The bloke with the spot-on loadout and guns, with zip experience of leadership.

I'd probably choose someone other than those two, and I'd persuade the guy with the MP5 to get a thompson and better kit for the next game. If he's that good and I trust him, I might even lend him my Thompson, ffs!

Whooooah

This is getting incredibly tense.

Lets get thinsg in perspective:

we're putting on a game for 50+ airsofters.

We want to give it some direction and theme or it ends up being a clusterfuck.

So we need squad leaders and ncos

We need them to be fairly outgoing and commadning peopel, some use of tactics would be nice but a strong personailty is more important, if they look great then thats fine.

We have some shortlisters:

Webby, Pete, the guy from IED and at a push Syd

Lets not forget the the key things here

WW2 , FUN, INCLUSIVE

We're getting very hooked up on the first one and losing the other two arguing :)

Have we asked for NCOs on allied & allied private forum?

1 volunteer is worth ten guys pushed into it.

Style over substance then?

Pfft.

You do the Brits, I'm happy with the Yanks, Thompsons or no....they'll have a decent leader.

Pete has agreed to be the NCO for the Brit squad... he's been chatting to me in pms...

I suggest we find someone to be the 2nd yank leader and then assign troops to them and let them decide who they want as their NCO.

No, but I'm sure as hell not having someone who's got substance, but no style at all... and the same the other way around.

The guy at KGB who was the best NCO there for the allies was wearing DPM for half the weekend and I found it really spoiled the feeling of immersion...

One thing i will say though is that watching the Arnhem vid one thing screamed out at me was the uk airborne lad in modern plce and a completely cammed face.

Thats really wasnt what we wanted and he was in about 40 per cent of the allied footage :)
