Since there's going to be a video I assume , as there was with Arnhem. Is there any chance of having some actual acting bits in rather than just video of people popping off shots...or dancing strangely next to a jeep what ever works! Just thought it might spice up the vid a bit. Add bit of depth and background? Give me an ok and I'll have a go at a bit of a script for some bits?
Show me a man who will jump out of an airplane, and I'll show you a man who will fight!

Erm, no.
Erm, no.
Thank Goodness for that. Speirs, if you want an acted video may I suggest that you cajole your own camera operator and make a script solely for yourself.
No plans for a video for CR , the site is huge, a lot of players will be spread all over it , so barring everyone having a video not much chance of making anything other than a small part of the action. Staging action for a video isnt really of interest to us , the purpose of the videos is to give a flavour of the game, for those that were there and those thinking of attending future events
Plus with all the covert movement we're looking to do, a guy in a hi-viz vest pointing a camera at you would be a bit of a giveaway.
Staged work, without professional crew and cast, always, ALWAYS looks utterly shite IMHO.
a few re-enactors tryed to do a film a few years ago, and it ended up being worse than the devil wears prada
That's not hard though is it!
I have seen videos that airsofters have tried to do, but the game always gets mis-represented, people going down like they have really been shot, tis not airsoft at all!
Although the photographs of the germans over the dead british paratrooper at Arnhem looked good from a re-enactment point of view, the reality is if people were playing they would have had glasses on, and certainly wouldnt be lying "playing dead" on the ground!

They really shouldn't have worn high-heeled boots, you know.
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier

Conversely the filming process is absolutely nothing like airsoft and needs a lot of forethought and careful planning.....and talent.
Getting a few of your mates to pretend whilst someone holds a DV camera shakily and at a poor angle will always look like that. And don't even get me started on sound.
Anyway, enough of my ranting.
I'm afraid the consensus appears to be in the negative Spiers. Thanks for the idea though, it's always good to have new ideas.

regarded by some to be the worst WW2 film ever

WOOO BAULDRIC in your avatar
Yes I would agree with the above except for the note that all WWII films made with reenactors look crap.

An indie film made with no wages being paid. Pretty good (well the visuals at any rate. The dialog is TERRIBLE and recorded very baddly (dubbed diologue thats supposed to be outside shouldn't have any reverb from the recording room in in my opinion! ) Also Im not sure about the legality of nicking all your sound effects from the Call of Duty PC game )
The point is tha you can only do that when people are there to be filmed, not there for another reason and fitting some filming in. It needs to be a dedicated cause.
No longer involved in airsoft.
There are some bad ones I've seen as well. The average Joe just does'nt know how to carry himself as if he were proper military and it shows alot of the time
GD Recon seem to put a few films up that are half decent, with just music over the top and no talking, but they're certainly not soldiers.
I may stuff my video camera in my binocular pouch and do a bit of videoing here and there... but then I may not.
If I do then it'll end up a bit like this... but a bit more retro...
I think thats pretty good considering that you were playing as well
Nicely done sir
No longer involved in airsoft.
Well at one point I did have a whole hour sat doing nowt... that gave me time to get the opening shot... took ages to time it right with the crows I can tell you!
The only thing I don't like, which appears so often in airsoft vids, is the footage of people stood around the safezone talking about their guns.
I prefer to see in-game footage rather than briefings or waiting for the off. It's boring enough being briefed in reality, god knows why anyone would want to see it on film!
heh... well in this case there wasn't much action... lol!
