it was a cracking nights camping and then a cracking days fighting thanks to all the organisers you did an amazing job.
We were planning to stay the night despite being soaked but when we got back to the allied camp our tents had flooded putting kibosh on the idea of getting dry even for 5 mintues.
So sorry but we still had an absolutly awesome time. it was so great to meet you all and we will for sure be back for the next ones
I'm another one that had to dry off, I managed to split my trousers from near enough my waist band at the front, right under my crotch to about 3 inches below my rear waist band. That combined with the weather wouldn't have made for an enjoyable Sunday, lesson number one learnt from this weekend - always have a spare pair of trousers handy
That said from arriving at the camp on Friday and up until the moment I left I couldn't have had a more enjoyable time, (with the obvious exception of the trouser incident). Everyone I spoke to was exceptionally friendly and up for a laugh, I can't wait until the next one. I'll also be staying rain or shine next time - as I'll have those spare trousers!
Big thank you to all the organisers, for putting the effort in, even though I had to cut it short it was still more than worth the time/effort/money from my point of view. Cheers guys.
Yeah, I wussed out too, I was pretty shreded by the time it came to set up camp but, despite that and the rain, it was an excellent day. Every one of the CIA events I've been to has turned out to be the best airsoft day I've ever had, and this one was no exception, they just keep getting better and better. I do feel a bit glum about missisng out on the second day, especially as the weather seems to have taken a turn for the better, at least in Yorkshire.
A big thanks to all the organisers, and thanks to Headshot for whipping his squad in to something like an organised unit. It's just a shame all those cunning Germans managed to outflank us and wipe us all out at the end of the afternoon down by the V1.
Not sure I can make it to portsmouth for the next game, it's too far to travel in an evening after the game on a sunday and I have no spare holiday to take from work, but I hope to see you all around soon.
Cheers
CHThree (Ranj)
PS - Next time can the allied camp be nearer a road?

Amen to that. Headshot made a great day even better by making it as realistic as possible. marching upto the check in area in the morning singing made it fantastic.
and aye closer to a road would be nice
Just had a quick look at the photos on the pics thread - my it looks wet - some great gear and loadouts on show - but my, it looks wet - just how WET was it? -
Hope you all had a great time. I'm looking forward to making it for the October event -
what wet top weekend we've just landed home and couldn't nap without at least having a lil sneaky peak on here before we power nap and the kids have to be collected
am having a cuppa now I will sleep shortly soon honestly
gawd is there no end to the yorkshire enthusiam
Just wanted to say A HUGE thanks to the CiA guys and the IED lot for organising and letting us have a great weekend. I could name so many names and cry all Gwynth Paltrow on you with a long speech ... but I won't but suffice to say I couldn't have wished to camp with a better bunch of blokes so pat on the back to each and everyone of you.
Headshot, it they'd have let me kidnap you I would have hope your return to camp after this mornings game wasn't too damp and that you got away without any problems.
Che am sure agrees with the above we really did have a fantastic weekend.
God bless the zeltbahn (of which many new functions of use were found )
Yup had a great day as usual, even though we missed day one, I suppose the hightlight has to be the Sturmbahnfuhrers pants catching fire, top day despite the weather! Thanks to all who put in the effort in organising it, well done!
Good event, 100%, huge site, my legs are aching now, great teamplay & organisation, impressive rocket!

Wet ? I've come back drier from diving holidays !
I don't know anybody who wasn't soaked to the skin by the end of the first day - and a huge hats off to all you guys and gals who climbed back into those wet clothes the following day to carry on.
It wasn't only the Allies whose camp was trashed, we returned to the German campsite to find many of our zeltbahns flooded and most of our spare (previously) dry clothing floating in the river now running through the Axis site.
Suffice to say, I was so incredibly impressed with everyones morale despite some of the worst weather I have ever been caught in, and hats off to all you guys for hanging in there.
Well done especially to Headshot, Yith, and the four other allies who held out til morning and - despite overwhelming odds - still managed to get Morgs within grenade-throwing distance of the V1, only to have dud ordnance let him down. Hard luck Guys, but what a ballsy attempt !
A big thank you to Ed and Ian for allowing us to run the game at IED - and for providing us with a real Dutch Resistance to fight against.
IED is a challenging site. I have played there a few times now, and the first couple of visits really took it out of me.
The terrain is difficult at the best of times, let alone during the end of the world weather that we had to contend with during this event, and the fact that people were still smiling - albeit behind gritted teeth - is something to be proud of.
Finally, I want to say a huge thank you to Guy for organising the event and for providing the Krauts with Heidi and Helga (the V1 and 88 gun) - not to mention
You don't stop playing because you get old...
...you get old because you stop playing !
What an awesome weekend. The weather was certainly a challenge - many met it with a steely resolve and regarded it as a personal challenge to see it through, some thought otherwise.
As someone who is filled with horror at the concept of camping I certainly was doubtful of the potential enjoyment value. In someways I was right - our tent filled with 2" of water so we slept in the back of the car!
But what I didn't bank on was the fantastic camaraderie of the Axis camp. Second to none. Despite being soaked to the skin we were all to a man (and woman, who as an aside played no small part in keeping the camp chipper) still buzzing and up for action at the end of the first day. The roaring fire and clothes drying structure built first thing in the morning showed the level of commitment in sticking to it and making the best of what we had.
This camaraderie was manifest in the action we put together in the field - disciplined patrols, snap ambushes, everyone working together. It mattered not one bit whether no contact with the enemy was made or whether we returned with a gaggle of Allied prisoners in tow (though that was nice) - the end result was a personal satisfaction of a job well done. No moaning, we just got on with it. It was a personal pleasure to work alongside everyone of you.
I would beg that players read notes and instructions before attending events - some came very unprepared. This wasn't a blatting skirmish and was designed with a distinctly hard-core bias.
Final words to to acknowledge the time and personal commitment of Guy who not only wrote the scenario (though a lot was dropped due to the in-game situation) but also built the Helga and Heidi and ran the game during the weekend under the challenge of an absence of radio contact. That landie saw some mileage I'm sure!
Just been looking at more of the photos - fantastic - and the exploding V1 - I have a question about that - was it meant to explode like that in a fireball, or was it meant to take off up the ramp? Either way, the final result was pretty spectacular - I particularly like the guffaws coming from behind the camera -
Hah! That was Guy's manic laughter
** makes mental note to avoid anything made by Oldsweat that has wires trailing from it **
We did have a earlier test of the propulsion system (still photo) but in the end the Allies had got so close to the secret V1 location that it was decided to scupper the weapon rather than let the technology fall into enemy hands....
im really pissed i missed this one
IT LOOKED BRILLIANT, shame about the wether, but from whats posted, you all did yourselfs proud
well done to all ,
and YET AGAIN a big thanks to the CIA orginizers

No offence to anyone but I must admit I was pretty amazed how many allies just disappeared after that firefight near the 88. It was a slog to the allied camp but one some of us did friday as well as saturday, and if it hadnt been for our tents collapsing in and flooding we'd have stayed ourselves. As it was me and craig ummed and ahh'd for a few hours about whether to just live with all our kit being wet. Next time we know to bring different tents and bivi bags not sleeping bags.
On another note im amazed you guys managed to get a fire going over there. one of our lads was at it for hours and barely got a small one to keep going. how much pyro did you have to use to keep it going?
And aye it was geared to alot of walking around, evasion and falling back. Personally I loved it. It was exhilerating hiding out by the 88 getting ready for the attack, dodging vehicles as they went along the road, going to combat ready every time you heard a branch snap etc. Fantastic job done by the organisers.
we had mr gadge and his magic fingers that worked wonders create a pire a viking ceremony would have been proud of, so good it was it was up and going this morning.
As for slogging it about I can assure you I for one got very soggy (knee deep in water and wet feet all day (FAB and walked lots , when we were out we went all over the shop hunting you guys out we never once sat and waited for you to come and get us
and yes we did the walk to your camp and back on the last ambush yesterday to get the mortar so we do know what you had to contend with
The only time I went on transport was when we did the GD group in the 101 and by god were we slaughtered in that (poor evo has the battle wound to prove it) and I have to say it was a top ambush and something the allies should be proud of
it was truely impressive. However to moan about the walk we had back to the 88, it should have been in the ambush plan to do the assault a smidge further (a lot
) down the road as you killed us off close to camp and the 88 set up so we were able to walk back, regen and aid our comrades that had gone up t'hill to head you off from the top
. In turn leading to the novel mexican stand off across the road
Still had a top time and noone can take that away from me even if I do and will for the next few days be walking like "das robot"

Not to take anything away from Gadge at all, but was there any paraffin or petrol in the mix there?
ah meths, the fuel of trangias for cooking and BIG fires lol he still did wonders
Indeed he did. It looked bloody marvellous! I wish I'd known about that when I was putting my cold, soaked trousers on this morning.
