The rumour went round very quickly "Yith lost on site - no one has seen him for four hours..."

Ha ha ha thats just reminded me of something else but I daren't say anything cos I may be beaten brutally and shot for divulging comedy secrets ... eh oh
On confering with a one of the squad leaders and his medic (dont worry webby & H3bby I wont say it was you) Aparently richard was with them until they got bumped, and he then dissapeard, much as happened with his own stick. Hmmm can I see a pattern hear?
We were missing because morgs led us through a quite amusing bit of heather(Just after we contacted a vehicle, notsure wich one, while crossing the road.) where everytime you put your foot down the ground turned into a rivver.

I reckon I was on my own for about an hour.
And no, I didn't get lost. My map reading and compass skills (never before tried and self taught ) brought me straight to the RV point on time. I met Barrie's little group on the way.

I don't remember that.
Just saying what I was told, It also sounded pretty funny yesterday morning.
It could also be put anotherway, But I wont acuse you of spying for the enemy.

HAhaHAhaHA we didn't see him either so he wasn't a very good spy
Or he was a *very( good spy, i thought that bush behind the zelt tent looked suspicious
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
Or he was a *very( good spy, i thought that bush behind the zelt tent looked suspicious
I think that was actually a bush, but now you mention the zelt there was something not quite right about it ... I think it was yith
I had great time
Got some kills and was involved in chommers' first patrol - man it was great to get some action so quickly, I got lucky on the sunday as we were attacked on the V! i ducked into the bushes to find myself right behind the dutch who were proving to be a little (ahem) impervious to our bullets - so i let them have a good couple of blasts, I probably overdid it a little, but it was a nice little single handed ambush ....
Man i was wet on saturday, but i must say that i found it a personal challenge to forge through I left some stuff behind due to packing in a hurry, aand being ill, and i also brought too much stuff i never used. but i had enough food and carried some with me all day and I improvised a forgotten tea mug out of a tin can... its so important when its cold you consume a lot of energy just keeping warm. Respect to headshot and his 5 man attack at the end of the day, i personally love all the sneaky beaky stuff and you guys seemed to do it well.
Helga you were amazing your sunny disposition really kept us going and the morale in the German camp was excellent even though we were camped in a river.... I suppose these things are finely balanced - our marale could easily have gone south.. I suppose early victories helped....
marvellous game Guy well done.... I must buy a zelt and a-frame

Can I just make a couple of things clear.
1) We didn't bug-out because the game wasn't what we expected or not shooty bang-bang enough. I've already said elsewhere I thought the slower pace and more team based emphasis was excellent. We really enjoyed the day!
2) We didn't slink off without telling anyone - we told two organisers.
3) It wasn't through lack of being up for it - we've been doing a half hour cross country run for the last three weeks to get prepared and we weren't even aching the next day.
4) It was, however, due to inexperience at this sort of event and next time we'll know to keep our overnight stuff in waterproof bags and not carry it around with us all day (along with 2 litres of water each).
5) If I'd known how short you were I'd have dropped Anne at the B&B and come back.
OK that's more than a couple of things but the salient point being give us a chance and we'll be better prepared for the next weekender.
Barrie and anne (ps was good to meet you anne
don't think I saw you tho barrie
) think you'll find all of us learnt something, even if some don't admit to it
don't be hard on yourselves
I myself MUST get more kit so I have a spare dry set rather than a soggy set, I must pack more thermals for myself as someone had to borrow my spares despite being told to bring some
and some boots that don't require food bags to be part of the ensemble
tho at least I had food bags so I could still wear my boots
Also must note you can never over waterproof a zeltbahn and I shall be doing ours several more times before either of us use them in the field again that is once they've finally dried out, AND that fabsil is officially shoite at waterproofing canvas tents so I need to find a good alternative
See lots of learning on my part Che just needs to listen and do what he's told
have to get that dig in as he complained I never moaned at him once all weekend and we can't have him thinking like that
Barrie - no fingers are being pointed. What happened, happened.
All those that left all had valid reasons. Hell, if I had a warm and dry B&B round the corner and not been responsible for fifty or sixty players I might very well have done the same thing.
Everyone learned something, whether it was their own self-resolve or discomfort threshold, not reading rules/game guidelines, lack of preparation (or over-preparation ) etc etc. I certainly learned the value of teamwork - the collective effort of the Germans impressed me deeply. And it only confirmed my deep suspicion of those who say camping is great fun!
Come rain or shine this event would have been on the harsh side - those who put the most in got the most out. If we had medals to give out to the survivors we would have done.
So thank you to one and all for giving it your best shot.
(Parting thought - if it had been hot and sunny I wonder how many came prepared for the swarms of hungry midges?
)
.....better prepared for the next weekender.
I agree I took far too much stuff... i took 3 guns and change of uniform, just about enough food no mug no tin opener. I did take a camp bed which was a stroke of geniius as it kept sickly me off the damp ground.... at least I was able to lend my K98 mags to Che! Zelt bahn has been ordered.
I must say the german kit was well thought out - I really think we had the zeltbahn advantage.

Me I had midge nets, mid spray that last 10 hours, antihistamines a sucky removing thing for bigger bug bites, antihistamine cream, antihistamine gel (spesh midge stuff) and just incase a small stick of anti midge stuff to put in me jacket
I also had factor 8, 15 and 25 as well as after sun pmsl OMG am sad am going to go and hide myself under a rock and flog myself with the bits of twig we brought home
I think I'd have been terrible and moaned like a erm erm girl if the weather had been the reverse
I also had factor 8, 15 and 25 as well as after sun
Finally, we have the real reason for the awful weather! It was your fault after all!!
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
and had it been sunny you would have been first in the queue for some I shall FORGET all mutterhelga things next time
I was trying to pre empt every possibility and knowing if any of the four local boys (well they are really just big kids ) with me had got badly from such I'd have never heard the end of it on a visit to the local drinking establishment (the fear of that was worse than the fear of them being caught out
) see I've met their other halfs
....they ain't that bad honest ......
to be fair I had some sun screen just in case too. It just goes to show though that even though I over prepared for everything I didnt prepare for a tent flood. but you live you learn next time i'll be prepared for that too
I had a great time at CR.
I did have to question my own sanity when I decided to put back on wet woolen clothes early Sunday morning instead of my lovely dry civies
Kameradschaftsgeist, Zeltbahns and a Mauser G33 kept me going.
Well done Allied troops. You had a very difficult job to do, made harder by awful weather. Brave acts on Sunday morning and againt all odds.
Thank you Guy and CIA. (And thanks IED, great site, harsh terrain and lots of it)
bin liners wonderful invention and take up lil space I'd have used them if necs some of our lads had very fetching undergarments made out of theirs with gaffa tape (see I hadn't thought of tape
)
As said I was well over prepared and took stuff (mostly sunny stuff) that wasn't required my personal kit ironically took up a very small bag
I think the nicest thing (well if you can call it nice) was that the first aid kits I'd prepared were also not required. I know there was I think a sprained ankle on the allied side ? but other than that I was amazed at how lil injuries there were and that we all came out of the event relatively unscathed
