Heh, thinking ahead! All this talk of Denisons (and there are a lot of Denison owners out there) must mean we have at least one Brit airborne/glider scenario next year.

Yeah, how about a revisit to Market Garden? Arnhem was ages ago now.

Gadge's game was supposed to be Oosterbeeck (but threw a wobbly when Yith wanted to run it at Fearful Silence, game subsequently abandoned. Gadge was supposed to start again with it for 2011 but that hasn't come to pass.)

An Arnhem revisited scenario would work. If we can find a river then Poles & Brits would work! It does give the opportunity of an urban game it doesn't have to be set in the towns, it could equally start shortly after the initial landings when Brits moved out from the LZs - and so a woodland based game.

Yep agree an Arnhem based game is overdue .

For next year I'd like 3/4 events , at least one 24 hourer , and an urban
Chances to use the Jeep would be good as well .

Biggest issue for me is sites , we have pretty much played out all of IEDs now, and since none of us do open days we'll have to be on the ball to get new ones. What about going down the "all afra" route and seeing what PD can provide ? Guy S said that Pippingford Park was a popular venue with re enactors, I know Town Assualt was run there once as well .

If we pull off a Stalingrad this year a battle for Berlin would be nice in 2012 .

There is Hey Wood - http://www.firstandonlyairsoft.com/venu ... -woodland/
Somewhat hilly for Holland though, but bigger than Fearful Silence.

OT - looks like F&O aren't using Darkelow tunnels any more, just the woods above it "Bunker Wood".

Longmoor would be a good Arnhem.

Cerberous' 'The Sandpit' at Bradford would make a good Sicily if we wanted to do 'Part 2'

Cerberous also 'have' a new 100 acre woodland site at Sheffield - a bit more of a central location. Actually, just found out it is the Strines site. It is a paintball site but they only use part of it (bit like Redditch) - I've done a training day there and played an open day when some airsofters tried to get an airsoft club going. Subsequently Phoenix took the site on and they are still booking games there. Not sure what the arrangement between Cerberous & Phoenix is - if there is one at all!
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&q=Danger+zone+strines&ie=UTF8&ll=53.415441,-1.658635&spn=0.011305,0.058622&t=h&z=15&layer=c&cbll=53.415316,-1.658774&panoid=NZTwTUz5yaC4X5Fmh3e3Bg&cbp=12,312.49,,0,7.64

Phoenix woodland skirmish is a game like no other. With natural trenches, Fox-holes, large bushes and Bunkers providing varied cover and shooting emplacements. Not to mention the custom built scenery providing realistic combat environment. The dense woodland also provides a great environment for the snipers. Near on a mile of trench system to battle through..
Woodland includes
* Male and female toilets
* Hot and cold running water
* Hot food and cold drinks facilities
* Covered Seating Area
* Airsoft Shop on site
* Battery Charging
Secure Onsite Parking

Then there is Welbeck woods, that looks suitable for an Arnhem landing game - another Phoenix site that is nearly ready for launch: http://www.phoenix-airsoft.co.uk/Welbeck.html

I can get Longmoor through Charlie James (runs Ambush Airsoft who use the place). I've known him for donkey's years. However, thats not going to be cheap - he's a price gouging bastard.

But I do have an idea. If it became an "AFRA only" event, we could probably get it via the same route that re-enactors do - and at a price roughly 1/3rd of what Charlie will quote.

When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress

I'd have to be convinced an AFRA card only game will be viable, looking at the players we have booked in the past year.

Pip Park is liked because they are allowed to dig trenches and bring vehicles in - I have no idea whether it is 'skirmishable' or even 'interesting' from our POV. From the pics and video I've seen it is a flattish birch wood, similar to F&O Matlock.

I'd really like to a game based on "Operation Loyton", where an SAS unit got completely f**ked. It would allow use of Denisons, wouldn't be reliant on huge allied numbers and would be "hardcore", to say the least. Any big woodland site would fit the bill for this. It would also suit an "Operation Foxley" (the plot to bump off Hitler) type scenario.

Not so sure on urban games, given how difficult it is to find suitable urban sites these days. Also, I don't think that an "Afra only" game would work, due to numbers. Although, if we found suitable sites for urban scenaruios, I wouldn't object! :good:

Steve, do you have any contacts regarding Swynnerton? It would make a fantastic site for a game and remains my personal "holy grail" for a site to organise a game at.

Strines is a complete bunch of crap as a site and been paintballed to death .

Afra only ? Well if we are charging 50 a head and we can get a site for 35 a head we could do it . It would also mean repeat players would make us a profit (excluding the one who already are afra), and we'd get a much freer range of other sites to go for , provided airsoft wasn't an issue .

Plot to bump of Hitler sounds interesting :good:

I do, but he's at MoD HQ so I'm not sure how much he'd charge. I'll most likely see him in Tuesday at an event in London so will ask him a ballpark then.

Whatever happened to the Nesscliffe idea? I'm sure Dave told us, but I'm buggered if I can remember.

MOD sites can be a fecking nightmare, timings, total clean up , H&S and the risk that some TA bloke will book it 10 minutes before your event starts. Oh and the fact that the likes of Stirling airsoft will try to sabotage it to keep their monoploy ( ask Josh about Catterick ...) Plus the MOd knows how much AS charge or games, and demands a lot on money up front £000's and dont sell the sites cheap .(£5000 for copehill down in 2007)

I've seen Ian Wermeling and Josh both have really bad experieinces, unless we could do better I'd be wary about it .

If we have better contacts then by all means look at , just be aware it ican be a minefiewld

You don't know the site then! It has a paintball bit near the very grand safezone (fort, helicopter, 'village' etc) but the site is 120 acres. I've only seen about 40 acres of it at the most! It is sort of similar to Reddich - paintball close to the SZ, acres of unused land beyond.

Whatever happened to the Nesscliffe idea? I'm sure Dave told us, but I'm buggered if I can remember.

The bloke who used to use the site was really difficult to get hold of and was supposed to fix up a site visit but nothing happened. I suspect, as they don't run games there any more, that his contact was lost.

I'll have a word with PD about the implications of running an AFRA only game to make sure the insurance element is covered adequately...

Hmmm, interesting.

Kent though. Eurgh...bugger to get to.

This could be a nice location for flooded Normandy fields (British sector, of course!).

That's not a problem, scenario wise. The Para's attacked a German artillerry position the night before D-Day and, that area was flooded.
