had this ..comments thoughts ?
Guy
steve here fae the bampots, need ot talk to your good self and a few of the others re the charity game at Catterick.
Im thinking April but would need to discuss dates and scenarios with your team.can you let me know availability?
if it helps i have a conference number i can use which gives people 0800 dialin and saves them a penny or twoor dependant on locations we can meet up.
Im in bolton but work in Leeds and yes the commute sucks the big one.
anyways let me know what ya think since id like to start getting stuff sorted planning wise and see if we can get website, advertising on forums etc.
65 for the first 100 max of 150 very max since id prefer a smaller game with everyone having a good time than have some punter spoiling it but at the same time being able to swell the ww2 ranks could help. CIA membership id gets it at 55 which is 15% off ? thoughts?

ps shame i dont have 3k nice vehiclealso on game most people are put off from teh idea of a ww2 game since they dont have any ww2 kit. what are your thoughts on having partisans? ie civis they could be for axis or allies and noone would know which ...
props im thinking on are things like gold bullion bricks, valuable paintings ( which have to be inspected for bb holes which would render then worthless) intel docs, possible german secret weapon designs ( rocket plans , models etc) kidnap or rescue of scientists?
nothing set in stone just trying to brainstorm. You guys know what works what doesnt and what could work with a little effort and imagination.
Sounds like a big old headache.....
Where's he going to get 150 players from?
Well, April is out for a start. As I have indicated before, the numbers don't really stack up and as HS says, we know what a pig it is to get large numbers to a game (as Josh is all to well aware ).
Funny that we have already covered all of his 'ideas' in one game or another!
Don't want CiA to be financially liable for an expensive site and underwriting risk. This game will make no money for charity and just be a potential ball-ache for us. Strip all that out though and a game at Catterick might be fun (or hell!).
Frankly, it is more up Josh's street, apart from the giving-money-to-charity bit! Josh could link up with AI magazine and have a joint venture (that goes nowhere or is a disaster, hell that's never happened before)!
It's a nice idea, but I don't think it's a goer. If its for charity, then they really want to get as many punters there as possible, and the way to do that aint WW2 Airsoft.....
When we were a Kingdom it was run by a King
When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........
TBH my heart isn't in it either .. if HS is of th same mind I'll cobble together some ecuse not to do it
It's not a difficult excuse - we are running a game in April and you will not be around to sort Catterick (being the closest to the site).
To lessen the blow of a rebuttal we can say CiA will support him in his efforts to run the game - access to registered and unregistered forum visitors and vocal endorsement?
Aye. Chances are I'll be in the US at some point in April, although that's yet to be confirmed.
have pm'd him back .
Copy received, looks good.
er ...had to spell it out to him in a second one , hopefully he'll either ring me or leave it alone .
Held back from offering props , organising etc as not sure what our interest would be .
I saw your copied answer but not what you replied to - what did he say?
sorry thought you'd see the full trail
Yep no probs at all , we will help as we can . Might be worth getting a slice of fourm to promote the event and the charity once you have the date firm .

Dear SteveIt's not just timing , it's more of an issue of not wanting to commit to it . You are going to have to lay out a lot of cash on an event that might not get more than 50 players . We would not like to take responsibility for ensuring that financially the event balances , let alone pays you a good contribution ot the charity .
We will obviously support the event , encourage attendance, add advice etc , but as a not for profit organisation have not the resources to cover the financial risk , nor would we be comfortable doing so even if we could .
I'm sorry if this is a bit of a reverse from our chat at Husky, however we have discussed this in depth since August, and have conme ot this conclusion .
regards

Dear SteveWe've had a bit of a chat about this , and unfortunately we are going to have to say that we'll decline the offer to run the game .
"Our" Stephen is out in the US during March , & I'm out in Thailand for most of that period as well . The other two are planning a CiA game for the end of April & so we don't honestly have the time or resources to commit to it .We will gladly help in other ways , with forum space, advertising , general support and will also come on the day dependant on the date .
We finally would like to say that no WW2 game has ever gone above 80 players, and we have some concerns about the numbers you might expect . That said if you decide to continue , we will support you as much as we can from the forum .
Regards
