David made a good point today that we should be a bit more sincere about dress requirements ourselves if we are going to get stricter on the players that come .

To this end it maybe worth listing what we can do as uniforms, and at least bearing this in mind when we start planning games? i know we've all changed our kit a bit over the years so perhaps now is the time to put up a new list .

As far as I know

Guy
Generic Heer officer and EM
Can pull out SS officer if needed
Plan on getting russian Officer for July event and a jump smock and hat for an FJ impression

David
US - Infantry EM or officer (post D-Day)
Brit - Infantry wools (all periods, all ranks)
Brit - Infantry desert (all ranks)
Brit - Airborne wools (all ranks) (Para nearly)
German - SS officer feldgrau/HBT (generic, all periods)
German - 16th SS officer, Italian campaign

Pete
Russian Commissar
Russian Infantry officer/grunt.
Russian Scout.
Brit Infantry - Europe, Italy, Africa.
Brit Airborne/para.
Various partisan/civvy.

Steve
US airborne ......might be worth revising as it's unlikely we'll be doing many more with US anymore ?
Various Partisan
Can also do be-suited 'official' types, but not for use in the field...indoor only!

Jay
SS - EM. Das Reich and Totenkopf (1939 to 1945 covered)
SS - Officer. Das Reich and Totenkopf (1939 to 1945 covered)
Going to pick up an early Heer tunic, cap, buckle & zelt at some time this year as well.

So we have 2 Brits, 2 Russians, 2 yanks , 3 German.

Your thoughts appreciated.

That's all I can do.

I may look at selling, but I need to price up other kit first.

I certainly can't afford to spend anything on new kit, so I'd have to look at selling to get new.

I'd probably get British infantry kit.

From memory you could do partisan/ resistance as well ? Another string to the bow.

Updated my kit.

When we were a Kingdom it was run by a King
When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........

Updated.

Just thinking. Wouldn't it be sensible for me to keep my US kit?

We'd then have coverage if we ever wanted to do anything with a US element as I can kit out two people. Perhaps a good option would be to think about a joint-ops game so we can get players from American and British forces.

Looking at what we have, we can cover one-another by doing loan.

If my job looks to be secure for the rest of 2011/12 (there is a risk of redundancy at the moment) then I'll probably be able to afford British kit outright.

I'd suggest keep the US but add another . Brit would be expensive but Russian would be cheap as chips? That would give us three germans three russians three yanks and two brits.

Also ..Brit means entering Yith territory    :ghey: you'd never survive .

Well, I won't be able to get anything until after September anyway, as that's when jobs are confirmed.

Edit - I've always been sincere about my kit and always strive for it to be as good as possible (hence, a vast collection of hats and insignia!). :good:

What between now and September you're going to struggle to find £100 to buy some basic kit ? Honestly ?

Re vived this thread as a thought

We have now 1 German only ( Jay) ...one German only( Guy)
Pete with Russian and Brit and Stephen with US ( and German if you keep the Horn Uniform and buy some cheap high boots. )Ps what you going to wear for Russian at Schaulen ?

See how we go , however happy to buy some Russian gear later on this year if we get another game together .

I does mean that we can do

German Vs Russian
German Vs Brit
German Vs US

of a sorts .

I'm borrowing stuff off Lardy for Schaulen. I really can't be buying anything at the moment. My company's coming to an end in Sep and there's nothing certain about job transfers to a new organisation just yet. Of course, if the job thing works out I'll be able to spend a little.

That's good news for Schaulen . Longer term, why not consider buying some gear using our funds and repay it when you can ? It's all just a question of priority really .
It's up to you but the US gear is unlikley to ever get used at one of our events again ?
