Proposal
To give the forum for of a community feel I am suggesting that we appoint named individual moderators for each section. Its something that other forums do and it does help avoid the finger of autocracy being pointed.
Does it matter? Well, there is the feeling out there of a 'them and us' thing, which probably isn't helping a great deal. Practically speaking it won't make a deal of difference but it will give the new section moderators a feeling of belonging and being useful and mean that we don't have to quite so vigilant forum-wide. Not that any of you look at all the forum and every post but meh, one of us does!
Anyhoo, the proposal is to ask of CIA card holders only - because we know them personally to volunteer their services. Clearly they need to be knowledgeable where needed but more importantly be articulate, rational, polite, stable and willing to actually do the job, not lord in being a 'moderator'. Each will have ONE forum bit only to look after to avoid megalomania-ism (heh, CiA have enough of that already
) and will apply by PM in confidence.
Section appointments:
General WW2 Airsoft discussion
WW2 Airsoft Weapons
Off Topic
For Sale & Wanted
General & Specialist Axis Discussion
General British Discussion & British Uniforms & Kit
General US discussion & US Uniforms & Kit
General Soviet Discussion & Soviet Uniforms & Kit
Existing 'Moderators' group will go but each sectional moderator will have a new communal private area to raise issues etc.
Thoughts?

Good idea in principle, however, it needs to be handled carefully. An open post of "Do you want to be a Forum Mod? - but you have to be a CiA member" still creates a them and us (CiA Members Vs Non Members) situation.
It would make more sense to come up with a hitlist of who we'd like to have as mods, then ask them individually.
just my 2p on the subject.

Yes, I take that point. Just thought it would be another bonus of being a CiA member as well as being a way to cut down the field a bit.
And I though volunteering might be more open and democratic (in a controlled closed and autocratic way
)
Either way, not unduly fussed.

No problem with offering to to CiA members only. After all, it's because of them that this forum exists. Other liggers can turn up to a game, then they can moderate! ![]()

Just spoke to Guy - agrees with a more inclusive moderator scheme so I'll get working on this.
Any strong feelings with making this for CiA card holders only Jay? I would like to ask for volunteers though, that way we get people who want to do it (not just feel obliged 'cos they were asked). A bit more democratic and less cronyism to the outside world. The selection from applicants is ours though.

yeah, go for it.

Nice, all sorted. I didn't need to select, just took the first volunteers as they came, since they were all suitable.
I expected a complaint from Yith about losing forum-wide moderation but he didn't. Evo beat him to Brit section so he took For Sale & Wanted.
No word from Gadge yet about not having ANY moderation status now. Meh, I don't think he ever moderated a post anyway.
