Was talking to Guy today about props and floated the idea of issuing radios in appropriate games - and would be fab at Jedburgh.
Josh's radios are always a big hit and as projects go not that difficult. PMR radio in period backpack or box with PTT handset. I have boxful off XTNs that take police type speaker/mike handsets so not difficult to rewire into a more military phone handset.
Brilliant idea.
When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
Yes, I've thought about this in the past.
FYI, Webby's just made one for himself.
Chatting to Jay today some thoughts re props and radios . ...
I will pick up the radio he built for Wotan II, and the Enigma, and probably make another radio and a crate for it all to go inside, plus lil folding chair and table. The idea being we wioll have an "instant" radio comms centre in a deploable crate as a prop . I'll add things like a morse code tapper and code books etc to spice it up .
One radio will be a CD hiding device for noises off, the other incorporate a PMR as a wroking base station .
Soi , working props , small , and multi reuasable as a task or objective or set dressing .
Secondly between myself and him we'll have a look at converting the PMRS inot perod radio packs, although 0.,5watt might struggle at GC ( the place is notoriously bad for comms . )
I'm doing the radio stuff as he's going to concentrate on these small mortars .
So by July, some new working props .
Finally I'll make a call for props among the players at the weekend , but will post it here frist for comment .
As posted elsewhere, Dave B has a full German radio station set up , phones, sets, tables, chairs & tent - paid a fortune for the kit and would love to use it (non-operationally of course but as pukka set dressing combined with PMR & SFX).
I can understand where you're coming from David, but who would pay when his real-deal kit gets trashed by accident?
Would you personally have left 800 quids worth of radio in the tunnels at the Loop event?
I wouldn't!
When we were a Kingdom it was run by a King
When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........
Heh, he did - he brought some radio bits with him (left in the sleeping area), along £1,000's worth of vehicles!
if he chooses to bring it inot Jed then fine, but I would rarther no see it destroyed , hecne have own own "doesn't matter if it gets run over" ones

Spoke to Dave today - two radio stations available for us to use if we want and he'd love to make use of them in-game at Jedburgh. I can't imagine how they could be destroyed (unless John backs the 222 over 'em!).
