I'm getting somewhat irritated by the number of people floating vague ideas for games and making no prior effort as CiA do.
When we announce a game it is fully fleshed out - scenario, location, date, cost.
We don't solicit interest, we just say here it is, book now.
No fannying about, they either come or they don't.
Webby did it last year - a post asking for interest for Pocket and of course loads of people said 'Yes, great, I'll come!'. Did they book? Did they feck as like!
Zero One has done it as has Harborne and now Taffy. It's rubbish - why would people have any interest in a game they know nothing about?
Do we need to make any 'rules' or just let them flounder in their ineptitude? I'm glad other folk are taking up the baton but blummin 'ek, either have the confidence in your project or don't bother!

Post up some rules. The forum and sub-forums are getting waaaay too cluttered with detritus about various games and training days. We have specific forums for this so we should encourage people to post up fully fleshed-out games as and when they have decided what it is and when and where.....
I'll be moving game announcements from the Gen WW2 discussion thread into the 'Themed Airsoft Events' area. Incidentally at the moment we have separate forum areas for PBI, Gunman, The Hill and then 'Themed'.
Would it be worth making this more generic into "Non-CiA WW2 Airsoft Events" then having sub-sections for PBI or Gunman if needed. Personally I think one area where they can all post in the same place would be more constructive as people could see it all in one place at the same time.
S

I've already sent a PM to Zero One asking if his game is a goer and if so to provide full details, upon which the 'poll' post will be moved to Events and an entry put in the calendar.
I think the 'Other Events' section is sufficiently clear for all but I would question whether there is a need for Warren's games - he isn't actively promoting WW2 and the last post there was in August! To make this section into separate sub-section will look as though we are hiding it away...

Oh, it's just that there's not a specific area for people to advertise WW2 games other than 'Themed Event', the tagline of which is "For discussions of other themed airsoft events" which implies events other than WW2 so people end up posting in General Discussion and the faction sub-forums; which gets on my tits a bit.

David - some ground rules would be useful I suspect ....especially discouraging SISKS ( should we refuse ot support games that don't adhere ot a majority of our rules on kit ?)
Thought taffy's post was ok ( admit ot being biased) , date was confirmed , site was confirmed , and he's asked me for advice on price and booking . Agree about ZB and others though ..... also think THEMED ought to be fucked over in terms of OTHER WW2 ...Gunman posts all his Wild West crap and other shite in there otherwise
Also agree about endless re posting in other forums , HS, if it annoys lock it.
TBH I think this forum has reached the size where it actually need a little more forecful moderation at times , as there are a lot on newcomers who haven't the history to know better . just ma thought
Thought taffy's post was ok ( admit ot being biased) , date was confirmed , site was confirmed , and he's asked me for advice on price and booking . Agree about ZB and others though ..... also think THEMED ought to be f**ked over in terms of OTHER WW2 ...Gunman posts all his Wild West crap and other shite in there otherwise
100% agree. This is a WW2 forum, I don't want to hear about Gunman's "Brokeback Mountain" Airsoft games...

When we were a Kingdom it was run by a King
When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........
Right, forum now reorganised.
'The Hill' section has gone to 'Past Games' archive (with Warrens approval.
Non airsoft events section is now in Off Topic
Non WW2 themed airsoft games (Vietnam, Cold War, A2C!!! etc now in separate section in Off Topic
Other WW2 games section created in Other WW2 Events that contains on WW2 related games
Allied and Axis private threads for Autumn Mist now contained with AM main section
Asked Zero One to post up a clean thread in the correct section, which he has done, so I've locked the old rambling poll thread of Pimms' and added the event to the calendar

Regarding Taffy's game.
Apart from the scenario being terribly written, I can't help but think they've made a mistake by"
A: Posting up the scenario and game plan for all sides.
B: Asking for feedback on the scenario and offering to make changes.
Ah well, they'll learn I guess.
S

Indeed.
And Taffy asking Spiers - apart from anything else, despite what they say, the feeling will be it's a pro-101st game.(And does come with a bit of negative baggage although Taffy wouldn't have known.)
It doesn't help with Spiers appealing for people to book at a game four months away, even before any scenario was posted.
The Brits thing is clearly tacked on and has nothing to do with the event historically but meh.
I know Guy has given best advice on getting a game launched and I have done the same with Zero Bravo - it seems to have fallen on deaf ears though...
Really, really annoying how Josh has jumped in with offers of forum support, punters and props - since when has he given any reciprocal space on his forum for CiA events or even mentioned our forum or games?

He's trying to move his sphere of influence north, and the only way he can do that is to piggy-back other people's games. Plus Spiers is a long-time Josh bum-buddy.
I'd suggest that a quiet word with Taffy warning of Josh's nefariousness would go a long way. Happy to do that if necessary.
S

Frankly wouldn't bother , people never thank you , better they learn the hard way .
Really unlikley I'll go to this now Spiers involvement is so obvious. If a lot of a regulars book it might change my mind however If I do go I suspect it'll be a bit spur of the moment .
It's likely I'll be off to Germany on the 30th, so doubt I'll make it. If I do I'll go as German.

Thoughtful of Taffy to delay bookings until we have done Wotan bookings.
Thoughtful, but unnecessary! Does anyone want to tell him to go ahead with bookings regardless?

Meh.....
I'm keen to open Wotan II bookings asap. Do we have to have anything more than the outline plot that Kermit's already done?
I'll put together a holding post see what you think.
As for Taffy, not really bothered. Would be nice if people were confident that our game was a bone-fide goer before they decide to book with Taffy instead.....

Another poorly thought out plan to release a game is announced....inviting thoughts from players......
