much as i like syd/gliderirder his constant attempts to get one over on me or add a comment to nearly everyting i say is getting a little tiring.

Its not that a mind banter i just find it a bit overfamiliar from someone i barely know.

But you're right Spiers is annoying.

I was very fucked off when start up was delayed for ten minutes when he not only turned up late with oddball but then had to changefomr US to Uk kit for no fucking good reason whatesover especially as we'd said 'dont bother you'll just be wasting time'

I can handle it, he's nice enough face to face, i think tactically ignoring posts works better.

Feck, I spent a weekend with that reenactment group with Flibble once.

Basically a bunch of eejuts who aren't good enough to be in other groups, some of them have some rather disturbing views towards minority ethnic groups too. A little worrying from people who dress as Nazis. Also some of the fattest reenactors I have ever seen.

Funny that, fattest re-enactors i've seen usually belong to US or Brit Airborne lol

Mind you, talking of fat Nazi's - anyone see that total fat bastard at Beltring last year, dolled up as Goering? (mind you, i suppose thats historically accurate!)

Aaaand, guess which group he belongs to.....

There'd also an absolutely enormous Kraut....I have a photo of him at Beltring holding a Panzerfaust. The perspective makes it look like a toothpick.

it always makes me laugh though how the age and size of a hardcore re-enactore is inversely proportionate to their choice of unit.

I reckon i can convincingly do brit airborne junior officer for three to five years more looking as baby faced as i do. after that i'll either do line inf nco or home guard. :)

My germanimpression is going to be a brnadenburger nco with cuff titles from crete and north africa as i reckon at 32 i could have easilysigned up in 37 and still be serving in 45 *but* the nature of the unit meant that its unlikely to be a company commander at 32 like most ss units ended up with!

Idont give a shit for the record what someone plays and how they look if they are just having fun but when people are so seriosus about stitch counting but are compleltey innapropriate in reality for their unit you do have to questio their choice

BTW, I don't think Syd is targeting you in particular Gadge - he does it to everyone. Strange sense of humour that sometimes needs a second read to grasp it's intent. Bit irritating generally though, banter is fine but when it doesn't add anything to a straightforward thread...

With regard to weight of re-enactors - it's doesn't matter how good at retro Photoshopping you are, photos never look 'right'. Uniforms hang wrong on large (both tall and wide!) modern body shapes and I am always slightly irritated when watching displays and such - hard to suspend belief when with all the kit it should look right but doesn't.

On a much more positive note, Major (Andy W) has just signed up to the forum!
