I can't find any reenactment battles organised there at that time. There is some living history type stuff going on but as far as I know WSS depiction is not allowed in France although other Germans in battles are allowed under license.
By other mates you mean Platoon1? I would be very surprised if they deserted us to go with Stubble (other than a wet weekend visiting sites in Normandy) as they are airsofters through and through.

surely it makes more sense for someone who actually knows about 40s brit kit like yith to make that decision if it should be subjective?

Gadge is being inflammatory, or playing devil's advocate as he likes to put it. A result of not having too much time on his hands.
BTW, if he can join an association as a bone fide re-enactor, why hasn't he?
Chommers knows more, but I'd say Helga has a chip on her shoulder and an axe to grind about male exclusivity in public reenactment events. Rightly so in my opinion. Women dressed as men are FARBY but then so are 22 stone 45 year olds portraying Airborne.
It's funny - Gadge, Yith and Helga who all have reenacting connections have all been the most difficult. They just can't 'get' that we are doing something different and opening out the genre.
And Gadge self promoting himself as the arbiter of correct kit really annoyed me - Poacher knows more than Gadge has ever looked up in Wikipedia ffs.
Yith complaining about posting across all forums got on my tits a bit too.

Learning point 1 , might be worth leaking such announcements to them a day or so before going public....doesn't mean we have to take their issues on board, but does allow them ot have a say behind the lines instead of openly , and also stops it being a big shock (plus they think they're "in the know" bit of ego massage) ? I think all his players are ours anyway so there is no need but I think we need to stand firm on differentiation - it's a benefit to our members.

yes, as we've just announced this we plan on not doing affiliated games for a while until we see how it goes.
