There's still a lot of places to fill for this.
Anyone spoken to them about it? Who's running the German side?
Apologies if this has already been discussed, could find much on it.
S

I'm playing on the Brit side - they have asked Che to run the Germans. I know what game plan is.
I have asked for increased banner use, I have moved their game into the CIA game section, put it on the front page of the web site (they declined the offer of a page to itself).
There are discussions elsewhere about player perception of the game and what to do.
I really don't know what else we can (or should) do. I notice to input from F&O despite their vested interest...

Meh. No worries. Glad we aren't COing it!
I guess Jay, Guy and I will be Germans then if we can make it.
S

Guy is otherwise engaged IIRC

I'll be in the lakes reenacting Whitnail and I with some good mates hopefully ![]()

Ah, it probably is funny but I don't get it ![]()

The PBI game is a non-starter for me i'm afraid. With one weekend in March taken up with TEHL, another taken up with a week bashing up and down hills around in Keswick (luckily, i dont think i'll run into Guy up there LOL), and another at a wedding, i *really* cant afford to use the one free weekend I have in March for Airsoft. Sorry, but I have to draw the line somewhere.

When we were a Kingdom it was run by a King
When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........
Pfft. Going to be a bit of a damp squib innit?
Could it be that we were right and WW2 airsoft isn't ready for this sort of game?
Actually, between us four, a lot of derogatory comments were being made towards Yith and Gadge from quite a few of the guys at the TD. Phrases like Stitch-Nazi and anal-retentive were used.

I think it's mainly been seen as a Brit centered game . Gadge could have been more active promoting it to the Germans IMHO. Plus there have been two TDs and one day game at F&O already , the sites a little small to keep playing there .

I hope you loyally rebutted these comments ! My take was they are trying something different .
If Varsity fails it would be a shame , as we might loose the impetus the Brits had gained, and having seen the yanks this weekend ....
I wasn't involved in the conversation. It was stuff I overheard.
S

There were such comments but not from the Y & G like-minded players! We have to be inclusive and that means the stitch counters too!
We've been through this before but the problem with the Varsity game is
a) It's close to Eagle
b) It's a Gadge & Yith game not CiA or site branded
c) Perceived to be a British game with Germans as OPFOR
d) Lack of understanding exactly what the game is
e) Yet another F&O game
f) Poor promotion & PR
g) Yith has left it up to Gadge to sort the game, Gadge is busying himself with other stuff
etc etc
Anyway, I'm going. I don't want to pre-judge a game - there is too much of that going on. I want it to work, I want it to be a success..

If Rich wanders off (thinkiing show season is coming) is there anyone amongst the Brits who could help Gagde with PBI going forward?
Yeah, Diesel Monkey.
I'm more concerned that the game isn't going to go down well rather than getting a bit of one-upmanship.
Agree with all on your list Dave, but I would add that Gadge and Yith aren't the greatest 'people person(s)' and I think this effects the pre-perception of the game.

I'd forgotten about Evo - he's been very quiet on the forum recently and I don't think he has been active with Varsity planning other than preparing a cardboard bunker to assault.
Gadge has got thorough planning in place for the game, I assume Major is directly involved, though coms were not through this forum.

other than preparing a cardboard bunker to assault.
Pardonsaywhatnow???? ![]()

Hehe - flat-pack bunker. I can't be arsed with lobbing a grenade - a match should do the job!

Or some rain.

Actually, a flat-pack bunker is a good idea - a pill box at a road intersection would be an interesting game element. Bunkers scare me in computer games - great fun when you are inside mowing down enemy until you realise it only takes one man to sneak round and there is no escape - sitting duck.

Yes, it's a very good idea.....but cardboard?!?!

I might have exaggerated a tad for comedic effect
- I think it's plywood. ![]()
