I wasn't going to go but my son was itching to play and, can't come to our games because he's only 16. I don't get to do much with him and, it's great to have finally found something we can do together, which, in my eyes, made it worthwhile.
Yep, I get that - I enjoyed playing war with a young teenage son at a time when you would otherwise drift apart without a common interest (and everything is 'boring' ).
The funny thing is, that he still aches from the running around! For myself, apart from where I fell on my waterbottle, I am fine! Of course, I'm rubbing it in at every oppurtunity!
Of course, I now face the expense of having to buy the lad a suitable gun for future games!
When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
Blimey you have been busy . Weren't you in the in the army at 19 ? Games workshop, teaching training, BBC interviewer, DJ, last fews years off with your old war wounded back , you've packed a lot in for 35 ! Mind you when you get to my age your memory goes so I might have got all this wrong over the years .
I'm not planning on getting too nasty , just a lil gentle ribbing at his rather silly nonsence
For a "trained" journalist, his spelling is truly shocking. Has he not heard of proof reading?
I had good natured a dig at him at the cold war game, about his webbing. No real soldier who wore 58 webbing ever wore 2 bum rolls and would not have been seen dead with kidney pouches either. I even went as far as creating the password - "STAB"! At one point, I mentioned that I knew a teensy bit more than him about platoon level tactics as well, which didn't go down well but, I was proven right when we took an objective quickly. In the end, he used his back as an excuse for being moody and dropping out for a bit. He was miffed that noone had noticed his absence! I could cite many examples of his total lack of knowledge on British Army training, tactics and battle doctrine.
Also, who the hell are those emo looking idiots (especially the fat, ugly bird) in the photo's he posted on that thread? Not exactly Metallica or Slipknot, are they?
When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
Yes, they do look, well, just plain comical. Might have been cool 20 years ago, just looks sad now. About time Mr Harvey grew up!
Looks like it was shot backstage in someone's mum's kitchen .
I see he's buggered off without a fight again , I was expecting a flurry of PMs expressing how awful I am .
I notice that, in his rather lengthy reply, he still says "in the Staffords", rather than "I was in the TA 3 Staffords for 2 years"! Fecking STAB.

Along with imprecise "three years in Education" & "Several Years at Uni" and downgrading editor of a newspaper to "assistant Editor on The Uttoxeter Advertiser". Would you be "head marshal at Quest Paintball" at 16-18? Piss-poor site if it was!
As usual, everything is exaggerated or a half-truth. He could say he was a CiA organiser but the truth is he was only involved in the organisation of one game. He isn't a journalist (a qualified professional) or a teacher (a qualified professional) or a soldier (a qualified professional) although he has written, taught and worn a uniform. Not exactly the same thing.
.........and you complain I don't come on here enough
No, I've never complained, it's not an obligation - different strokes for different folks.
It IS true that I played on the same side as he did at the cold war game and, it's true that I'll probably play at future ones as well. For the reasons I already stated, mainly so that I can share a common interest with my lad as regular open days just don't cut it. To be honest, it was me that ended up running it after gadge had yet more health problems! Something that will not happen at the next one.

Played first game ever at Lightfighter , driven there by his mum . Told Shuan Phillips to look after him as" he's just been kicked out of the army". Subsequently turned out he's tried twice and been rejected before completing basic. Was never a potential officer candidate or regular soldier . I was told all this by ex regulars at Lightfighter who had met him before I ever did , when he was walting it up on the ASCUK forum .
Jays contacts can find no record of a Gareth Harvey ever being on the Army or other service rolls
Spent a small amount of time in the TA perhaps , or hung around squaddies enough to learn enough lingo to pass. Pete Dunn reckons all the names he's dropped are TA instructors . Apparently he can't even remember his service number .
Has/had an amphetamine habit .
Was binned from First and only and AI .
Huge issues with wanting to commit suicide in earlier life
We all know why he left us , and the shit stirring against us he did afterwards .
And we know why Rich left PBI .
...................................................................................................................
Everytime I have to read more of his nonsense , knowing it is nonsense , and knowing that he knows it's nonsense I get really peed off with keeping up the pretence .
I got three options here
1 Have it out with him on the forum , and expose him for the lying little twat he is
2 Press "delete account"
3 continue with the charade that we don't know all of this about him, and let him merrily walt if on spreading his bullshit around liberally.
.................................................................................................................
So
Before I opt for 2 , more tolerant members on this thread might like to have a word with him and let him know that we know when's he lying , and can he kindly stop doing it . It's in his best interests as I'm not sure his frail mental state could take such exposure
Theres 31 pages of frustration and annoyance at this devious lil sod, suggest re read some of the comments before giving the line of "oh just ignore it "
As much as I'd like to see gadge "outed", I think that for the sake of preserving the peace, we should leave him to it. CiA always seem to come out as the bad guys for some reason and, I don't think a public slanging match will do us, or the forum, any good. People will inevitably take sides (or stand on the sidelines in shock) and, we will lose more players.
Perhaps Guy, a well worded pm might do the job and see him off? Deep down, gadge knows it's all true. It's just a case of touching the right nerve, as Dave Barrett did with scaleyback.

Sorry, I'm not sure how to copy a Facebook convo properly.
Gadge Europa is stunned by the hypocrisy of some 'event organisers' who dissapoear for six months, turn up make abrasive comments on forums and dissapear again... only attend their own events and *then* wonder what they've done to put people off

Evo Von Himmel Me too. Guess that also answers your question about collaboration, and tells me how welcome I am at certain people's events...

Gadge Europa I'm tempted to set up a collaboration training day and show certain people up for what they are when they dont help... its interesting that I've had a fair few supportive PMs and phone convos over this

Oliver Garford-Palmer Gadge, you'll win by carrying on with what you do best making improvements along the way. They will soon see the error of there ways and that will be the time to look smile turn your back and keep walking.Crack on

Gadge Europa The comedy of it is Oliver that when we left this particular 'organisers' group over a difference of opinion we decided to our own battles in a radically different way... now strangley nearly *all* of the changes we made have since been adopted by a lot of other battle organisers... clearly we were doing something right

Oliver Garford-Palmer It is a shame when such people are too big headed enough to accept that someone else's idea may just be a better way foreword for everyone in the hobby. They have two choices, bury there heads in the sand ignore everyone and risk loosing all that support them, or they could adapt and move with the ever changing avenues for improvement. Sounds like they are destined to choke on there own stupidity and fail miserably.

Hehe, more of Gadge's & Nige's outpourings elsewhere
Gadge
This would be the nation that despite me being practically crippled in service tells me I'm uneligabe for any support but hands out blank cheques to preqnant chavs?
I feel I've paid more than my share into this country... at the current balance they owe me an L4 and L5 vertebrae and while they are at it they can probably fix the C1 the buggered up as well
Having worked since was 16 and served in HM forces yet I'm unable to claim a penny because my partner in an admin job (on about 19k) is supposed to support me... you can understand my lack of loyalty to a coutry I was litterally prepared to die for.
Scaleyback
oh bugger... you just shamed me into staying. unlike most malcontents kostya, i have earned the right to hate this country due to the way its treated me over the past 20 years. not like some 20 year old "uni" student from an upper class family who hates it coz its "cool" to do so in the "uni" bar, and "demos" are jolly good fun. dont even go there mate. i was disabled, while serving this festering shithole you love so much ( as did i, once) and apart from my £30 a week army dissability pension, i have recieved no help, i have never played the sympathy/cripple card and have worked as a self employed joiner since leaving the army and re- training at my own expense, money borrowed from a family friend to pay for college as the "state" wouldnt help. after 20 years of struggling , and no help, i dont get benefits, i had a nice burgening business, then it went in the great bankers money grab know as the reccession. when i work, i pay tax. when i dont, this place finds a way to get out of paying me even the basics.
AND NO, I DONT THINK THIS COUNTRY OWES ME ANYTHING, JUST A FAIR HEARING, BUT I DONT GET IT.
dont f**king go there . you like it here? you stay. when my wifes inheritence comes in, we are off. enjoy.
and i think you will find, although belgium might have a better class of pedo,,, we have more in this country.
I agree with Pete here. Now, if ever there was a time, PM him and say what you feel you must. However, now Gadge has popped back on the scene and is posting everywhere he has the potential to split the community - again, just when they thought the CiA/PBI war was over. Public stuff will be very destructive.
I was away this weekend.
Agree with Pete and David here. There's no point in being purposefully confrontational on the forum.
I don't think Gadge's responses hold much water amongst our regulars, however he does have the ability to mislead some of the newer folk.
I'm a little surprised by Evo's outburst on Facebook. He's obviously got a lower opinion of us than I thought.
Gadge's assertion that it was he who made all the suggestions for the direction in which we've gone are ridiculous though. Anyone whose ever attended a PBI game will know how different they are.
I agree a public battle is not a good idea, hence I stopped myself and posted on here instead.
The bloke is a disruptive and malevolent force , I could PM him , but suggest it would be better coming from not his enemy, or just press the delete account button, him and Evo , if that helps .
is there any real reason not to ?
