I assume you guys have received a PM from Steiner with a game idea. Anyone doing anything with it?
I've not had a chance to read through it, I guess a unified response to it would be best.
S
He phoned me up and I gave him my 2ps worth
1 Keep it simple
2 try to think the game through from both sides POV
3 Thought side swapping civvies was a recipe for problems, same way we kept them single sided at Arnhem
4 We could help out if he needed it , but that would require defining later on .
I get the feeling him and Neil might pull sommit together .
It looked OK to me - well, pretty straightforward except for the side swapping thing which won't work (for long) for reasons already expalined on the thread.
However, I don't see it as a problem forming the basis for one of our games. Ground Zero was mentioned which I don't know, but I'm sure Kermit does and could be our 'down south' game? Combat South site would be good too...
Incidentally, Webby and Rhys are organising a September game at Dave Manning's site in Worcester - yes, the Falaise Gap game rears it's head again!
Ah well, it appears he has taken Guy's word as the official CiA line and is doing it himself!
I have a feeling that 2008 will be the year for the least populated games - way too many for the player base as it stands at the moment, five in the year should have been ample!

Couldn't agree more. It's become WAY too overpopulated. This year, I only intend to do CiA events, maybe an F&O one, and Longmoor if it comes off (cos i love the site ) - oh, D-Day plus 2 because we're getting comped on it as well. The rest of the year, its mountains, climbing and kayaking that will be getting my free time.
Regarding Andy's idea, i'd put money on him trying to do it at Ground Zero. Which is good - and bad.
The good is that it's an excellent site to play on, with the tunnels through the rhodies, and some great bunker systems, plus, 500 FPS sniper rifles can be used there (unlike Combat South), the bad is that the bloke who runs the site (Neil from Zero One) is a complete cunt, the Health and Safety is a joke (last time, i went at lunchtime as I was so pissed off with dumb fucks firing in the "safe zone") Then there is the fact that Neill will want his son to play, and I will not - under ANY circumstances - play against kids. They simply shouldn't be playing, there is too much danger of them getting messed up, and no matter what their parents may say before an incident, they will look at it in a different frame of mind once their kid is in hospital (seen it happen first hand at the old FFR site)

Heh, yes, this will be a WW2 game that Jeremy can go to

Not my intention, he phoned me last night as did Neil ....although Neil phoned for MP44 advice .I got the distinct impression they were planning to do it together, & Neil did say a game Jeremy can play at ... I was vague as to our involvement or not as he caught me on the hop and I had no idea if we wanted to or not .
Too many events.....yes way too many at the mo . So lets fuck of everyone else's and concentrate on ours. Or fuck ours off and just turn up to other peoples ?
Comms from Neil
hi mate
just waiting on H at GZ to confirm dates and cost..... When that happens can we have a thread and also can this game be presented by Army group south in conjuction with CIA
of course, if you want to make it an official CIA game that would be cool too. I am not sure what i am letting myself in for...
Hi Neil
Yes we can sort you out with some space when you get a confirmed date, and we'll have a chat about making it a CiA game this week as well
Cheers
Guy
To echo Kermit, I too only intended to attend CiA games really, not that I ever go anywhere else anyway! Other hobbies and new relationships are what I want to concentrate on this year...as work will be very busy around all this.
As for The GZ game, I'm not too keen to make it a CiA game but I'm happy for it to be supported by CiA a la Gunman.
I say let's concentrate on our games and make them the benchmark for WW2 games!
Agreed. Apart from anything else, it's going to be difficult to organise the game without site visits and I'm not particularly keen to travel all that way for someone else's game.
If players want to organise games themselves that's fine, but organising is what they will have to do - not just come up with a scenario and book a site! We'll support them in terms of publicity naturally, just as we have done with everyone else.

It's scary how we all think along similar lines . Just got off the phone from CW, much the same opinions expressed between us .
As bad as it sounds, with the proliferation of training days, player organised games, other sites and Gunmans "Dash for Cash" , the whole player base is in danger of being watered down . To a degree it would suit our purposes if some of these events fizzled away , leaving us and the sites to organise the quality WWII games . Less is more I reckon .
We also need to work hard to keep CiA games as being the best , feck the rest of 'em .
So if we're in agreement do we think that the answer ot Steiner is "yes we'll support you with some forum space but due ot the distances etc blah blah we'll not be looking to do this as a CiA game ?"

Yep, absolutely. Couldn't agree more with everything you've said me old mucker.
All sounds good to me.

Not sure if I 100% believe that answer however at least our arse is covered should it all go tits up .
Shropshire is near to my home!!
Need to check out F&O's Bolton woodland site then....
Bolton *shudder*.
A colleague went out there recently in fancy dress. Her friend went dressed as Shakespeare and some of the locals asked who she was dressed as.....when she said Shakespeare they said, "Who?"
I shit you not, they had no idea who Shakespeare was....
Unbelievable.
Should have said "benefit fraud investigator". 90% of Bolton would have done a runner in seconds...

I prefer to think of it as Notlob!
Sounds like a cue for the "Preston Virgin" jokes....
