Good stuff - keep pushing the Brit angle, it's going to pay dividends I'm sure.

Hah! Kermit's boss is gunning for him - Paul's gone for US along with the three others. Now the CiA team have some worthwhile targets!

I'll be bringing pics of that lot. I expect them to be hunted down and eliminated. ![]()

On our forum a bod is fretting about an AEG that is running at 350fps. Rather than force him to downgrade it would be better if we made clear that it's 328fps + 10% max.
It's going to be like pissing in the wind anyway on a windy beach/dunes.

Gentle PM I'd suggest
Done - told him to be sensible and not draw attention to the fact that he is 'over'.

Message from Josh . Nominal agreement by Cardiff City Council ( Not English Nature) to use hte beach has been granted for the princely sum of £1500 . Josh is going ot have back at them for batant profiteering .
so its not actually a confirmed booking on the venue then?

"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
That is not a good thing to find out at this stage!
I agree it's a blow at this late stage , and yes the venue has been booked with the landowner for 6 months. When we met the site agent last week he told us that CCC also had ot be consulted and the low and behold the bloke then turned up ot talk to us . Josh was mightily surprised having run events there for 10 years and not had to deal with them before. After the CCC bloke had gone he gave the site agent "what for" for pulling this info out at the last stage .
It makes no difference to the woodland, just the beach .
Anyhoo , comms from Josh last night are that it's all sorted now for £300 not £1500 . We will have the beach for five hours for that sum , which is plenty enough , although use of pyros may still be a problem .
Battle for Normandy 2007
24hr battle weekend, Candleston, South Wales.
November 3rd - 4th 2007
ONLY £65 for the whole weekendWelcome to Gunman Airsoft 24hr IIWW Battle weekend
The event of the year! And a battle like no other, ‘Normandy’ will be remembered for years to come as a battle for freedom.
The battle will kick off 12pm Saturday and finish 12pm Sunday; the weekend will be filled with missions, glory and the very best in game co-ordination. Both marshals and game refs will help to bring this amazing weekend to life. The site has 4 miles of sand dunes and 100+ of acres of woodland and scrubland. Perfect for a Normandy landing weekend, this area around the coast of the Bristol Channel was used for training by ALLIED soldiers during the war and makes the most fitting site for such a game you’ll ever play on.GUNMAN will be providing a number of marshal driven vehicles to be used in the game as well as field artillery, outposts, gun emplacements and the very best props and set dressings. GUNMAN is made up of experienced Live Action organisers that have been running professional events since 1993.
So how will the weekend unfold?
The Beach – Allies landing.
1200hrs Section 1 –The beach landing
At this section all the players will be start on the beach!
1st AXIS Battalion will be set up on the beach with a number of MG42 bunkers (unlimited ammo). The Americans will begin the battle off with the beach landing. A hard slog indeed, all the German forward positions must be taken. There will be a re-spawn point set up at the waterfront for the KIA to get back in the action. If all the forward positions are taken the Allies can move onto Section 2.1400hrs Section 2 – Infantry
The Infantry can now move up off Section 1 of the beach and begin their assault of Section 2 over the sand dunes. Once section 2 is cleared they are stuck until the 88mm artillery is taken out by the Airborne assault some 1 mile inland.Inland
1430hrs Section 3 – Airborne
The Airborne section move to their new starting point.
The British and American Para’s have landed some two miles in and must make thier way to the 2nd AXIS positions and destroy the 88mm artillery, the Engineers must use TNT and spike the guns. The Airborne drop wasn’t good and the paratroopers (will be marched out blind folded) have been scattered all over the site, they must regroup and co-ordinate their attack on the Axis artillery positions using recons. All this must be done covertly, otherwise they may well find themselves overwhelmed by the AXIS 2nd regiment.1600hrs Section 4 – Allied Landing
All Allied units must rally to the ALLIES CP.
Providing all goes well for the Allies, both the Brits and Americans will rendezvous at their CP station at 1600hrs1500hrs
Now the ALLIES have landed so begins the hard job of taking and holding the roads and getting the ALLIED armour off the beach and to the ALLIED CP station for re-supply.From this point on the AXIS must try to keep their supply routes safe and hold on to their outposts, (Mini CPs). If done, they will be able to launch their counter attack the next morning from these outposts and not from their main CP further inland.
2000hrs
Main assault will finish! However if there are enough players on both sides wishing to continue, there will be a few night missions run. (Airsoft in general is NOT so good at night) All gaming will stop at 10pm! So all can RR for the early start next morning.Sunday
0600hrs
The battle for Normandy continues, a dozen laid out missions for both sides will be issued as well as the Allies key objective which are to control all the outposts by 1200hrs to win the day.Units
The ALLIED forces will be put into Platoons commanded by Lieutenants and they will be attached to Companies commanded by Captains (Marshals). The highest-ranking soldier in the field for the Allies will be the Colonel, Head marshal for that side and an overall game organiser. The platoons will be made up of groups of mates and kept together with the odd guys attached. These are your comrades in arms, your band of brothers.
The AXIS will be in commanded units controlled be there Colonels under direct command of their Major.
Command
GMA’s Colonel Smith (Josh) will be over all Command the ALLIES,
CIA’s Major Chomley (Guy) will be over all Command the AXIS.Marshals
The Marshall will be playing key roles during the battle weekend to help the refs and Games operations deliver a fluid, realistic weekend and help the players get the most out of the weekend. They will be able to keep in contact with their Colonel throughout the game so the units can co-ordinate attacks and defence.
Referees
Due to the size of the site and numbers taking part, there will be a high number of refs keeping an eye on the action, dealing with any issues be them in-game or out of game so you, the player can enjoy the experience. They will be dressed clear hi-vis waistcoats. Each ref will carry a radio, whistle and med pack for scratches and scrapes.
We hope to have the St johns on board as well. We will confirm that 2 weeks before the event.Radio Packs
GMA will be providing all the in game radios for the weekend in the form of backpack radios, carried by the Captains. No other radio communications will be allowed!
Stuff that Josh wants to post in the open bit . I've told him it's too much info andwill edit it down a lot to make better. Any comments / offers ot edit ?
I'll have a look at it and re-edit tonight.
S

Well for a start the axis co is either guy or chomley
it cant be Major Chomley (Guy)
unless you two have decided to share an identity

"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
WTF is IIWW??
oh god i've just read it properly.
Firstly...
The uk airborne lads have to wait TWO AND HALF HOURS before they get to start their game. As their attack does not go into 1430 hours and the US beach assault is 'held up' at 1400 that means you have players waiting in the sand doing nothoing for 30minutes. very realisitc but also incredibly boring, even if you spiceit up by putting unlimted bursts of mg42 into them.
I woudl suggest overlapping the events so the uk attack starts 30 mins before the US attack 'halts' that way the guys on the beach are not bored and the uk lads only have to sit onthie arses while everybody else is playing for a n hour and half.
thereis *no* contingency plan for the laiies royally fucking it up and not gettingof the beach.
Puting a timetable down pucblically is a recipe for failure it doesnt allow you to improvise or change plans wihtout revealing you've fucked up massivly.
We've learnt at every event now that a contingency plan in case the game bogs down is essential! Telling players about it isnt.
