Just to start getting you guys in the mood

Some shots before the battle

Landing at Omaha

"You have no idea how miserable the Germans made that beach ... we could see rows upon rows of jagged obstructions lining the beach ... When our ramp went down and the soldiers started to charge ashore, the [Germans] ... let loose with streams of hot lead which pinged all around us. Why they didn't kill everyone in our boat, I will never know."
-A Coast Guard coxswain describes his first trip to Omaha Beach

German Defences , mine stakes and Rommel’s Asparagus

Point du Hoc, scene of the Rangers famous climb up the cliffs that no one else could scale , only to find the Germans had moved the guns back 500m . They then fought for two days unsupported until at the end of it, the landing force of 225+ was reduced to about 90 men who could still fight .

I’ve been to both Omaha Beach and Point du Hoc, there were brave buggers on both sides . Hopefully we’ll be capturing a good feel for D-Day in November.

Top photos there, mate, some real iconic ones there, too.

It's a pity we won't be charging up the beach from the surf, that would be amazing.

I was thinking of keeping my M1 in the poly bag until I get to the shingle anyway - if I'm not out on the beach, medic'ing fallen comrades :)

Gonna put some effort into the motorcycle and sidecar for Normandy DDay, so it should be available by then, have to say though more interested in a cracking sandbag and cam net MG position, so if you can get a driver I'll put the bike at your disposal Herr Major.

Mortorbike project coming along slowly, just had no time, wife, kids, house rennovation, planning permission problems, all seem to soak up my time, promise it will be done for Normandy. Don't break it or yourself Herr Porta, no Seve McQueen Sh*te and its yours to play with on DDay.

Do you know if they are good enough to take a cast off, or are they too poorly detailed? My plan way to scoop em out and pop M14 internals in them, but if there imposible to work on I won't bother! At $50 they still might make good props:)
