MEMBER'S-ONLY GAME

"Die Glocke"

Ludwigsdorf, Lower Silesia, 1945

Sturmbannfuhrer Rudolf Schuster was impressed with the work of his hand picked Special Evacuation Kommando. "Die Glocke" had been removed from it's specially designed laboratory, and the 62 Scientists that had worked on it had been liquidated with relative ease. Now all he had to do was to to somehow move it to the west, where hopefully the work on it could be completed before the Allies over ran its new home at a research facility in the Ruhr. He reasoned that he had better figure it out sooner rather than later, as his commanding officer, Obergruppenführer Hans Kammler, was not a man you wanted to displease...

SHAEF, France, 1945

Capt R Gregson, a Physicist by education, but now uniformed as a member of the US Army's CIC was not a man who was easily shaken, but as he strode from the entrance of the Trianon Palace Hotel in Versailles, he was worried. He knew of torsion field theory, but he thought it nothing more than a fantasy. A fantasy, that is, until he was given command of a small unit of specialists, and a mission to the Ruhr. One that, should he fail, might just change the course of the war...

London, NID Office '30', The Admiralty, 1945

Major Stevens had a reputation to uphold, and uphold it he would. With the best troops available, he would complete his mission. He was a soldier first and foremost. He didn't have any interest in science - he left that to his "technical specialists", but when Commander Flemming gave him a job, he carried it out to the letter, but first he had to work something out. How the hell was he going to get to the target area? Then he had to work out how he was going to deal with the damn Yank team that would obviously be after the same prize....

Die Glocke - 26th April 2009

Venue: UCAP Airsoft, Southwick, Fareham, Hampshire, PO17 6AR. Directions here.

This is the official booking thread. As with previous games, once you have booked and payment has cleared your name will appear on this list.

Before you book some words about the event, please read this carefully before you book.

1. Due to the close engagement ranges in the tunnels, UCAP operates a strict maximum limit of 330fps with a 0.2g bb. Weapons will be checked with a chrono, so please do not bring over-powered guns.

2. Pyro is strictly resctricted to 9mm BFGs and that bought from UCAP's on-site shop ONLY. NO SMOKE. No exceptions, so please don't ask.

3. This will be a high-tension game which will unravel steadily throughout the day. Those expecting a blatfest, run-of-the-mill, open day type game need not apply.

4. Underground accommodation is available on Saturday 25th April for those who wish to stay, otherwise you'll need to be on site by 9am on Sunday 26th April at the very latest.

Please make sure you bring adequate equipment for sleeping underground, on concrete, in April. Good quality sleeping bags, and roll mat or camp bed are a must, the tunnels are chilly even if it is warm outside. Also make sure you bring adequate food and water.

5. This is Comrades in Arms members-only game. If you aren't already a member, but are eligible for membership, please fill in the forms and get registered before you book your place. It's free, the only requirement is that you've played at one of the eight previous CiA games. When booking please ensure you include your CiA Membership Number, bookings from non-members will not be accepted. Details on membership are at:

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=3719

6. Usual CiA rules regarding kit and weapons:

http://www.ww2airsoft.org.uk/pages/kit-allies.html

==================================================================================================

Payment is £35 in advance and can be paid in three ways:

Include your full name, forum name, CiA membership number and side playing.

This game is strictly limited to 20 Axis places and 20 Allied places on a first-come, first-served basis, so book early to avoid disappointment.

Game fees are non-refundable however your place is transferable. If you are unable to attend then you may make your own arrangements to swap with another player and you can use the forum for this purpose. We only ask that your transfer keeps the sides balanced. Good job!

Some points:
1) We settled on £35 game fee (we need to cover paypal fees remember, let alone props and other expenses)
2) Pyro restrictions need to be stated right from the start - basically you can only use 9mm BFGs and pyro bought from UCAP shop. No exceptions so no need to ask!
3) We don't need to restrict to 10 Brits & 10 Yanks - as they come is fine, I would have thought
4) We might mention that strict FPS limits apply so punters must be sure they have suitable equipment before booking
5) The scenario is intended to be a high tension game and those expecting a blatfest need not apply

Also, I think it would be fair to pre-announce bookings launch time - say something like "Bookings will open 10pm Wednesday (or other date/time agreed) and will be taken in chronological order. Paypal payment is required. You do not need a paypal account to use the paypal service, a credit/debit card is fine."

I'm not fussed on roles/flavour but since this is a Kermit/Headshot game I suggest they take principle roles...

I've made the suggested amendments to the first post. What I suggest we do is post up an announcement now saying that we are opening booking at 10am on Wednesday, text for post below.

I'd like to play German again.

Maybe Jay and I can do a kit swap....

"Dear members

As many of you are aware CiA are hosting a members-only game on Sunday 26th April at the legendary UCAP Airsoft near Portsmouth.

We are limiting player numbers for this game to 20 per side. This is to allow decent play in the narrow, claustrophobic tunnels.

We are expecting this game to book up very quickly so we are giving advance notice of the opening time and date for bookings to allow a fair process.

Booking will open at 10am on Wednesday 21st January. A booking thread will be placed in the member's area of the forum with details of the game and instructions on how to book.

All the best

The CiA Team."

Should we post the booking thread in the member's forum or in the game thread that Dave's just created?

I'll unlock the section Wed morning and you can copy and paste the booking thread - if you are not about then I'll do it.
No point doing it now as we will have a tirade of posting for the next 24hrs. They can wait until Wed before reading about it!!

Also thought of another 'condition' - must be over 18 (I have no idea whether we have under-18 members??)
