If we go with 20 paying CiA members as Jay and I are recommending then it gives a bit of a problem, as I discussed briefly with Guy the other day.

How do we be fair, given that we are likely to be over-subscribed?

First-come, first served? (penalises those that don't have cash to hand; if they miss the forum announcement or don't go on the forum that day)
Lottery? (What do you do with those that come together eg Che, Helga and Fandanglos)
Invitation? (Remaining CiA members will be miffed they weren't invited)
Preference to those who went to Wotan?
Preference to those who didn't go to Wotan?

I give this slightly complicated suggestion - post up who wants a place, don't ask for cash. If it is over-subscribed by a cut-off date then draw a lottery. If pairs or groups are split then they can ask to be removed and the place redrawn - or persuade someone else to do a trade.

I think every option is going to give problems. Lottery is the fairest, but on the flip side, there are certain people i'd favour over others.

However, there is another possibility. Don't run it as a game per se run it as a "training event and social" I'm sure we can drag up a few of the ex-Mil types to run various training stands. Running it as a training event means we could up the numbers immediately, possibly to 30. Say, training sessions till 14:00 Hrs, then a 2 hour mission afterwards to put the training into action? Bung a fiver on top of the normal Bunker CQB price to cover some training-specific props, not the usual tenner.

So, good idea, or crap idea? Over to you gentlemen....

Hmmm. It could work.

Actually I was going to suggest that we try to run the game as a series of short games but was put off by the gheyness of it. :ghey: The training/social could really work, I'd perhaps suggest longer gaming time in the afternoon though.

OK, how about we run it with an announcement for the date and time that we'll open bookings.

We give people say, five days notice that we'll open bookings at a specific time on a specific day and limit the number of bookings to 40, 20 per side.

We can make sure that I'm online at the same time and then the places are booked on a first come, first served basis.

It's fair, gives people time to make sure they're available and have the cash to hand.

I can have a look into how to set up something like this in Paypal. I think you can set it up to only take a certain amount of bookings for an event so I an limit it so if people try to book once it's sold out they are rejected, either that or I just o it manually.

Yes, I pondered about short games too but it really isn't the CiA style is it. We don't play games as such, more play out scenarios.

My instant reaction to Jay's proposal was - hmmm, that won't build on the Wotan buzz, which would be a shame.

BUT - it is a tricky site to maintain a continuous scenario without an outside controller and tightly restricting numbers. So, a solution would be not to even try.

The site coped with large player numbers by having dead players walk out of the game and fresh ones go into the game, so running through the entire player base and giving chaps a breather/reload time.

Having slept on it (actually, thought about nothing else as I didn't go to bed - having a fierce asthma episode) I'm not against the proposal.

However, I'm not sure about the training aspect - what is there to train about? And spin it out that long? Perhaps a short training thing then a pistol only game, lunch, then afternoon game.

So yes, a CiA get together with no restriction on numbers (we wouldn't get our full membership turn out anyway) would work. But it really ought to be distinctly WW2 themed though...

There's always "plan b"....

UCAP. Yes, I know we went there last year, but hear me out on it.

1: We know the site
2: We know what works and doesnt work there
3: Double the number of players that you could get into Bunker CQB

Regarding Bunker CQB, something has been bothering me over the last couple of days. The site didnt give me a "buzz". Which isn't good.

I don't like the idea of going back to UCAP. It's too close to the last game and the danger is it will either be samey (CiA always come up with games that are completely different) or not live up to the memory.

The Bunker is a unique site so that is a great plus. And yes, it was a bit soulless, but heh, it's a concrete box. Dressed with our usual props and filled with sound and smoke it will be transformed. The thing that made UCAP scary was corridors you couldn't see the end of and the oppressive weight of earth above your head.

And the fact that there were some SERIOUSLY funny goings on in there during the night. Hearing that metal clang so loud put the shitters up me something rotten. It had a distinctly eerie feel.

We could turn the bunker into something good, I'm sure.
