its a little quiet on this part of the forum
so i start i subject
will we be doing any training days in the near future?
Doughboy group has seemed to fizzle out a bit...
Maybe a rebranding and a enlistment drive might be in order?
Show me a man who will jump out of an airplane, and I'll show you a man who will fight!
General James M. Gavin
CRY HAVOC AND LET LOOSE THE DOGS OF WAR
I think the general lack of interest in training and people not wanting to push the accuracy envelope too far kinda killed it.
The Germans and Brits are far more pedantic see......
Thing is what do you put in this part of the forum that is not already covered in the other american threads?
but your right damb it all! we need to recindlly the fizzled chards of the doughboy spirit and spoke life into the firery heart of the regular G.I.
UP AND AT THEM BOYS, BERLIN BY CHRISTMAS!
I MAY have been drinking.
perhaps if we use this area as a "staging area" for upcoming games, a place where we can descuss unit coheation etc. Talk about what we want as a group of players from a event. although like masha mentioned a training day would be a good idea. learning the basics last year really did help me to immerse (don't think that's spelt right) myself in a game.
Its also be due to the fact that Webby seems to be somewhat distracted these days - I wonder if he has a new girlfriend? Heh, he has!
YEH Wha' up wi' that?
How many of us actualy have line infantry impressions and how many of us have airborne, then when there are events where both can be done (like husky or haggard) we can ballance the books like half infantry half airborne like haggard because that was nice having units of both.
That's a intersting point. St lo has that option and it was going to be a point i was going to bring up in the not so distant future. as i was seeing about curalling people to do glider infantry for that.
So this seems a good a point in time as ever to start.
Well I'm up for some Doughboy stuff now... If you'll have me.
325th GIR/82nd Airborne any use?
ARH HARH!
I just put up a thread for gilder infanry which was inspired by your glider infanry loadout.
just need to swop my badges around and I'll be joining you in the 325 GIR.
that makes 3 people so far.
Heh... Here I am Mr trendsetter... lol!
Good stuff... 3 of us, that's a great start!

The PBI section is used just like that.
But also for pedantic discussions about the specific units we do...
It's just a case of getting things going again. Well done Marsha, you've already pocked the chards to recindle the flame, now lets keep blowing to feed the fire to a gloriuse blaze!

and there is plenty of time left yet.

To be honest headshot i dont have a problem with accuracy that was the whole reason i join this group its
what i was looking for, the brits and germans are doing far better then us on accuracy front
plus i could do with some training myself and it will help me get fit too
The 82nd Airborne Division had 2 Parachive Infantry Regiments and 1 Glider Infantry Regiment. The 325th GIR is the one that was part of the 82nd.
The kit for just post d-day is standard infantry kit, but with the 82nd patch. As the year went on they'd have got buckle boots and M43s like everyone else. They may also have nabbled some Para kit, but I think we should stick to the standard early infantry stuff as it looks great.
Here's are a few pages with the history of the 325th GIR.

Here's a re-enactment group that do them in the states:

thks Yith thats helps alot
and yes i agree early infrantry stuff is far better
When the doughboys first started there was discussion about which specific units were going to be protrayed but at some point that was all ditched and the more relaxed attitude adopted, personally I think that was a mistake, people like being part of a specific group, look at Dog & Easy company as well as PBI and the 9th & 16th SS.
The probem is that you can't please all the people all the time so, as with PBI & the SS groups, you state the ground rules and those that want to be a part of it abide by the rules.
Don't get me wrong I'm not critising the Doughboys organisers, without them Doughboys wouldn't have come into existence, it was their call and they did what they thought was best at the time, and now it's up to them how they want to move this forward.
On the subject of St. Lo I'll be landing in the glider with you lot BAR at the ready
